Venture Transportation Partners is Hiring a Human Resources Manager Near Indianapolis, IN

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources Manager leads a group of human resources (HR) professionals, including HR business partners. The Human Resources Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing staff, employee relations, and creating and enforcing company policies and practices. 

This position requires an extremely perceptive person who can relate to individuals at all levels within the organization. The manager must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill and the business needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

  • Leads and develops an effective HR team that partners with operations management at all levels to achieve organizational objectives 
  • Provides mentorship the HR team to ensure professional growth and development 
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department 
  • Serves as an HR Business Partner for assigned area 
  • Builds strong, trusting relationships with all levels of the organization 
  • Develops and leads the implementation of employee relations strategies, policies, and programs 
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations 
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource strategy particularly as it relates to employee relations, retention, and succession planning 
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance 
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees 
  • Supports the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings. 
  • Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations 
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department 
  • Provides constructive and timely performance feedback 
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy 

OTHER SIGNIFICANT JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task between multiple duties and departments at any given time during the day. 
  • Travel to visit various Venture and customer locations, when necessary.
  • Additional duties as assigned 

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience
  • A minimum of 3 years HR experience 

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years in human resource management experience 
  • 3 years of direct team leadership
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired. 

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. 
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. 
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS (Paylocity) and talent management systems. 
  • Ability to manage employee workloads, organize action steps, meet deadlines, & implement with different departments. 
  • Thorough experience with primary MS Office products (Outlook, Excel & Word) 
  • English Language 

PREFERRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

  • Ability to multitask, understand and manage priorities
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the organization
