Description

Overview 

EmployIndy guides the local workforce ecosystem and makes strategic investments to remove barriers to quality employment for underserved and underrepresented residents. The vision for EmployIndy is clear: for all Marion County residents to have access to services and training necessary to secure a livable wage and grow in a career that meets employer demand for talent. 

The Vice President of Human Resources will play a crucial role in supporting EmployIndy’s mission by leading all aspects of human resources management. They will be responsible for developing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and programs that align with EmployIndy’s goals, values, and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). Additionally, the Vice President of Human Resources will oversee vendor management of outsourced HR functions to ensure alignment with organizational goals and values.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with EmployIndy’s overall mission and objectives.
  • Work closely with senior management to identify HR priorities and develop action plans to address them.
  • Provide strategic guidance on organizational structure, workforce planning, and talent management.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and management on HR-related issues.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive work environment through effective communication, conflict resolution, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Conduct regular employee feedback surveys and implement action plans based on the results.
  • Lead the recruitment and selection process, including job posting, interviewing, and candidate evaluation.
  • Develop effective strategies for attracting and retaining top talent.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs to ensure new employees feel welcomed and prepared for their roles.
  • Develop and implement performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and professional development planning.
  • Provide coaching and support to managers on performance management best practices.
  • Identify opportunities for employee development and career growth.
  • Develop and implement diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) strategies and programs to foster a culture of belonging and respect.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to integrate DEIB principles into all HR practices and policies.
  • Lead training and education initiatives to increase awareness and understanding of DEIB issues among staff.
  • Oversee vendor relationships for outsourced HR functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, values, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor vendor performance and compliance with service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with vendors to optimize HR processes and improve service delivery.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in human resources or related field (may substitute 6 years of relevant experience).
  • 8 or more years of human resources experience with at least 4 years of experience being in HR leadership roles, preferably in the non-profit or public sector.
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • Progressive work history with increasing levels of accomplishment required.
  • Experience developing and implementing DEIB initiatives and programs.
  • Proven experience managing vendor relationships and outsourced HR functions.

  • Ability to facilitate teams, manage projects and develop policies.
