This Human Resources Specialist (Classification) position provides classification services for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The role of this position is to provide advice, consultation, and guidance on position classification, position management, and organizational design for CBP. The primary mission of the Classification Team is to provide superior advice and guidance to customers in the areas of position classification, organization, and position management services.

Salary and Benefits
This position starts at a salary of $49,025.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $77,955.00 (GS-09, Step 10) with promotion potential to $113,047.00 (GS-12, Step 10). Employees receive the full package of federal employment benefits that include health and insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional 401(k) offering.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Education Substitution: GS-07: Successful completion of one year of full-time graduate education from an accredited college or university may substitute for the experience required at this level. This education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work, OR a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) may also substitute for the experience required. It is based on (a) class standing and (b) grade-point average (i.e., GPA 3.0 or higher of a possible 4.0, excluding pass/fail credits). Pass/fail credits cannot be more than 10% of total credits), or (c) honor society membership.
You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:
Education Substitution: GS-09: A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, a J.D. or an LL.B. degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for experience required at this level. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
Combining Experience and Education: Combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements for the grade levels specified.
