We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Director of Human Resources to join our team and contribute to the continued success of this iconic property. Position Overview:

As the Assistant Director of Human Resources, you will play a crucial role in supporting and overseeing the overall HR function within The Pierre Hotel. Working closely with the Human Resources Director, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and programs to ensure a positive and engaging work environment for our diverse team of hospitality professionals. Specifically, you will collaborate with the HRD to oversee all facets of Human Resources, encompassing labor relations, recruitment, benefits administration, employee training and development, employee relations, absence administration, and legal compliance. This collaborative effort aims to uphold the highest standards in HR practices and contribute to the success and well-being or our valued team members.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Support the Director of Human Resources:

  • Collaborate with HRD to oversee all facets of Human Resources, including but not limited to labor relations, recruitment, benefits, training, employee relations, absence administration, and legal compliance.

Daily HR Operations Management:

  • Efficiently manage the day-to-day operations of the human resources office to ensure smooth workflow and optimal functionality.

Legal Compliance Oversight:

  • Maintain continuous legal compliance, keeping the HR team and other applicable departments informed about evolving legislation and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.

Employee Relations:

  • Assist in handling employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Foster a positive work environment through effective communication and proactive engagement with employees.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on HR-related and union-related matters.

Recruitment:

  • Collaborate with the HR Director in planning and executing recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Conduct interviews, participate in the candidate selection process.

Union Collaboration:

  • Leverage experience in collaborating with local hospitality unions, demonstrating a proficient understanding of the New York hotel collective bargaining agreement (IWA).

Employee Training & Development:

  • Support the development and delivery of training programs to enhance employee skills and foster professional growth.
  • Work in conjunction with the HRD, and L&D, HR Manager to identify opportunities for skill development and career advancement within the organization.

Policy Implementation:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay informed about changes in employment laws and ensure policies are updated accordingly.

HRIS System Administration and Data Management:

  • Undertake administrative responsibilities for the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to ensure accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Generate HR reports and analytics as needed for management review.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum (5 ) yeas progressive HR experience, Union hotel experience preferable.

  • Ability to effectively communicate complex HR concepts to a diverse audience.

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

  • Basic payroll and benefit administration knowledge required.

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; prior experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems is essential.

  • Must possess the ability to coordinate multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment, strong detail focus, and organizational skills are required.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Additional Information:

Please note this position is based in NYC and is expected to adhere to a 5-day/week, in-office work schedule.

The target starting annual salary for this role is $95,000 to $115,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Pay will be determined on an individualized basis, commensurate with experience.
