Montgomery County Government is Hiring a Program Manager II (Bridges to Wellness Positive Youth Development), Grade N25 Near Rockville, MD

About the Position:

This position is located in the Department’s Children, Youth and Family division’s Positive Youth Development (PYD) Program. PYD focuses on providing culturally-based and trauma-informed positive youth development services, including violence prevention; gang prevention; and intervention for those youth who are at-risk of gang involvement and those already involved in gang activity; and youth and their families who may have been involved in or exposed to violence. The key elements include a youth violence prevention coordinator who manages and monitors the Up-County and Down-County Youth Opportunity Centers, six High School Wellness Centers, The PYD Bridges to Wellness Program, The Bienvenidos PYD Program, The PYD Therapeutic Recreation Program, the Safe Space Program, and the Street Outreach Network (SON). Services and supports are provided through community-based work, community education, and partnerships. This program works closely with the Police Department, Montgomery County Public Schools, State's Attorney's Office, Recreation Department, other HHS divisions, Libraries, and other community groups to address gang and youth violence issues throughout the County.

The Program Manager II is responsible for:

  • Providing administrative and management support to the work of the Administrator for the Bridges to Wellness PYD Program including Contract Monitoring for Bridges to Wellness PYD contracts.
  • Providing management supports for the Bridges to Wellness efforts in conjunction with Montgomery County Public School (MCPS), Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD), and other DHHS efforts support positive youth programming.
  • Provide Supervision for the Bridges to Wellness SON Program Community Services Aide III positions.

Minimum Qualifications


Experience:
Thorough five (5) years of professional experience in School based and community based PYD programs and providing direct services. Supervisory experience is required for this position.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

License Requirement:
Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence when required for job-related duties.


Preferred Criteria

All applicants will be reviewed by OHR for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated Qualified, placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for an interview.

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following areas:

  • Contract and /or grants monitoring and administration in a public agency setting.
  • Positive youth development policy work specifically with youth of color and newcomer youth.
  • Providing school based and community based positive youth development services specifically with youth of color and newcomer youth.
  • School based and community PYD policy development work, preferably in the state of Maryland.
  • Previous Management experience in PYD Programs
