About the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT)
The mission of the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is to move people and connect places with seamless, equitable transportation options that are safe, environmentally responsible, and support economic growth and vibrancy in Montgomery County. The Department has five divisions; these include Highway Services, Parking Management, Transit Services, Traffic Engineering and Operations, and Transportation Engineering. We are a large organization with over 1,200 employees and a dedicated County budget of 255 million.
About the Division of Transit Services:
The Division of Transit Services coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the County's Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 30 million trips per year. The Division also regulates the operation of taxicabs services in the County.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
The Division of Transit Services seeks to fill a Program Specialist II (Marketing Specialist) position. This position is responsible for devising and implementing transit marketing plans and strategies to influence citizens, employers and employees to substitute multi-passenger forms of transportation for single occupant vehicle commutation, and to provide technical assistance to developers and employers in formulating, developing and implementing traffic control plans/traffic mitigation agreements.

This position REQUIRES the possession of a valid driver’s license and the ability to attend meetings and perform work at locations outside the office, including locations throughout Montgomery County and other places in the Washington Metropolitan region. These locations may not be accessible by public transportation.
This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office and sometimes during evening (after work) and/or weekend hours.
To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.

The anticipated salary range in hiring for this position is: $63,642 - $82,408.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Two (2) years of professional experience in marketing, advertising, or a closely related field.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
License: Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class “C” (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant's state of residence.
Preferred Criteria
There are NO Preferred Criteria Assessments. All applicants will be reviewed by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) for minimum qualifications. Those applicants who meet minimum qualifications will be rated "Qualified," placed on the Eligible List, and may be considered for an interview. Employees meeting minimum qualifications who are the same grade or higher will be placed on the Eligible List as a "Transfer" candidate and may be considered for an interview.
