Montgomery County Government is Hiring a Program Specialist I (Fare Media), Grade 18 Near Rockville, MD

ABOUT THE DIVISION OF TRANSIT SERVICES

The Division of Transit Services coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules and manages the County's own Ride On bus system consisting of County owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 14 million trips per year.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING :

Transit Services seeks to fill a Program Specialist I (Fare Media) position. This position administers the GET-IN Transit Subsidy Program, Care Share Tokens Program, Treasury Fare Media Sales, Youth Cruiser and Senior Smartrip Cards and other Ride On Fare Media.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Process applications and renewal forms for the GET-IN program.
  • Process applications and renewal forms for the Kids Ride Free program.
  • Process orders and distribute Youth Cruiser SmarTrip cards to schools, libraries, trips and treasury.
  • Administer treasury fare media sales.
  • Process applications and renewal forms for the Care Share Token program.

WHO WE ARE SEEKING:

The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills; must be able to organize, prioritize, and accomplish assignments/tasks on schedule; perform highly detailed, meticulous work efficiently and accurately; be flexible and have a positive attitude; and be able to effectively communicate both written and orally.

The position requires someone who is an excellent communicator and listener, approachable, adaptable to changing needs and has experience building successful partnerships and collaborations.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office and outside of normal business hours including some weekends.

Telework may be available in this position with supervisory approval.

This is generally a Monday through Friday with traditional business hours. The work hours will be determined through collaboration with the hiring manager.

To ensure a positive workplace and to comply with federal, state and County laws, the incumbent is responsible for completing mandatory trainings within the first three to six months or within the specified timeframe.

Montgomery County Ethics Law : Except as provided by law or regulation, the County's "Public Employees" (which does not include employees of the Sheriff's office) are subject to the County's ethics law including the requirements to obtain advanced approval of any outside employment and the prohibitions on certain outside employment. Minimum Qualifications

Experience : One (1) year of professional experience in a program/specialization area directly related to the assignment of the position, e.g. Regional Transit Fare Media, County Transit System and customer service principles

Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

Equivalency : An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

Preferred Criteria

The applications of those individuals meeting the minimum qualifications will be reviewed to determine the extent, relevancy of training, and experience in the following areas:

  • Experience analyzing data daily and creating MS Excel spreadsheets with that data at an intermediate to expert level on MS Excel, including pivot tables and query formulas.
  • Experience turning data sets into MS PowerPoint charts, including bar and pie charts, with intermediate to expert skill level.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external clients
  • Experience collaborating and partnering with various organization to achieve desired outcomes
