The Dinex Group, restaurant group of internationally acclaimed Chef Daniel Boulud, is looking for a **Sous Chef** to join the team at our new Downtown NYC restaurant.
To succeed in this job, a candidate must be able to effectively undertake the following day-to-day duties and responsibilities as second in command.
**Essential Duties:** * Preparing meals and food to meet the specifications of guests and Chef Daniel Boulud in a timely manner
* Properly measuring kitchen ingredients and food portions
* Ensuring kitchen staff adhere to set standards, procedures, department rules and sanitation requirements
* Using kitchen knives and equipment such as grills, ovens, steamers and warmers in food preparation
* Managing the kitchen inventory and ensuring supplies are fresh and of high quality
* Ensuring proper food temperatures when cooking and proper storage afterward
* Keeping the workstation and kitchen equipment clean, organized and sanitized
* Taking charge of kitchen in a team setting in regards to opening, closing and other side duties as directed by the Executive Chef
**Competencies & Qualifications:**
* 4 years of experience in high volume or fine dining environment
* Accurate knife skills
* Ability to read and follow recipes and standards
* Ability to produce a high volume of work in a timely manner, which is accurate, complete, and of high quality
* Actively practice food safety procedures
* Organizational skills
* Effective time management
* Ability to lift large items up to 50 pounds
