Position: Human Resources Coordinator for Classified Employees
Reports To: Assistant Director of Human Resources
Location: H. Dean Evans Community and Education Center
Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. / 12 month calendar position

Salary Range: $52,000 - $60,000 annually
Job Description:Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator - Classified Employees is responsible for performing the following duties:
1. Maintaining good communication and public relations on a daily basis with various entities, including but not limited to: applicants, classified personnel, classified supervisors, building level and central office administrators, and outside public and private agencies.
2. Responding to inquiries of classified applicants, current and former classified employees, and others.
3. Processing applications of classified personnel by working with building level administrators, classified supervisors, and designees to be certain that all needed documentation (references, background checks, etc.) is on file prior to extending an offer of employment.
4. Meeting with new personnel to obtain needed paperwork, documentation, explain benefits, and review certain policies and procedures.
5. Entering new employee information into the payroll and HRIS systems. Updating when an employee leaves.
6. Checking on background check reports submitted by new employees and providing assistance to employee when needed.
6. Changing and updating employee information in the payroll system on an ‘as needed’ basis.
7. Performing duties related to the Public Employees’ Retirement Fund. Duties include completing online enrollments, life events, and terminations.
8. Performing duties related to the 401(a)/VEBA programs. Duties include notifying retirement administrator of newly eligible employees, performing partial enrollments online for VEBA, and entering status changes. Finalizing and returning paperwork for 401(a) tax deferred annuities when submitted by previous employees.
9. Processing and distributing updated salary information to assigned classified employee groups or on an individual basis as needed.
10. Maintaining personnel files of current and former classified personnel.
11. Compiling state and federal reports as needed.
12. Placing position vacancies on website and removing positions from website, as needed.
13. Preparing correspondence and other paperwork associated with the classified Human Resources function.
14. Verifying employment for both current and former classified employees via telephone and/or written correspondence.
15. Other tasks as assigned and appropriate.
Requirements:4 year bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience. It is essential that candidates possess good communication and public relations skills. Must possess above-average keyboarding skills. Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and data entry required. Must be well-organized and able to set priorities. Should be conscientious, assertive, and flexible, show initiative, and be able to set priorities.
