Job Type: Permanent Build a brilliant future with Hiscox The Retail Traded Business Development Manager role at Hiscox encompasses the activities and processes undertaken to improve our market position, in the wholesale space, including expanding our broker base, and increasing revenue and profitability within a defined geographic territory. This highly visible role focuses on identifying and capitalizing on growth opportunities through relationship management, sales execution, strategic territory planning, lead generation and competitive intelligence. Core activities include building effective relationships to drive new business submission flow while proving quote to bind ratios, implementing growth strategies to achieve short and long-term business goals and identifying new opportunities to grow our distribution base. Success is measured with a balanced scorecard with individual financial goals and territory KPI’s in addition to behaviors to deliver on the Hiscox values. It plays a vital role in driving business growth, expanding market presence, and ensuring long-term success. The primary objective of the business development role is to identify and capitalize on opportunities for growth while creating a competitive advantage within appointed wholesales broker and new appointment relationships. Key accountabilities of the business development roles at Hiscox: Sales Discipline: Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills including excellent communication skills and an ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders. Follows a disciplined sales process involving pre-call planning, development of clear call objectives, post call documentation and timely follow-up. Consistently achieves monthly in person sales call targets. Able to clearly articulate the Hiscox value proposition. Forms strong internal relationships that move the business forward and create a best-in-class broker experience. Relationship Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with distribution partners and stakeholders crucial for business development activities. This involves effective communication and collaboration to establish trust and mutually beneficial partnerships that focus on achieving results. This also includes understanding broker workflows and building strong relationships at every level to drive submission activity, pipeline for new business opportunities and deliver on sales initiatives. Territory Management: Utilizes data, analytical insights and enablement tools to strategically manage an assigned geographical territory and to make well informed decisions. Leverages broker segmentation to allocate time and resources, is diligent in usage of CRM system, has command of the leading indicators and core metrics of a small commercial insurance business uses dashboard and reporting to drive productive business conversations. Strategic Territory Planning & Tactical Execution: Development of assigned territory’s overall strategic plan and execution on tactical initiatives to annual sales targets and achieve goals. Conducts annual sales planning with assigned partners and closely manages goals on a monthly basis. Analyze market trends, competitive dynamics, and internal capabilities to identify growth opportunities and formulate plans to achieve business development objectives. Additional requirements of the business development role at Hiscox: Travel Requirements- Ability to travel 70% of the time. 3-5 years of insurance experience, preferably in the small commercial or wholesale space.
