Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for maximizing referral potential from existing accounts and developing new business to achieve the goals and objectives of the company. The Business Development Manager organizes, coordinates, and supports community-based activities and represents the mission and vision of the organization with professionalism. This position takes a proactive approach to understanding the needs and services of our patient and family constituencies to develop additional referral and patient market sources. This position will manage B2B relationships, building a robust referral network to increase potential patient admissions, fostering strong relationships with noncompeting providers, healthcare agencies, hospitals, clinics, and more.
Duties and responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic business plans to foster growth, profitability, patient admissions, and customer satisfaction.
Develop account management list to maintain current account information and update as required.
Develop new accounts and markets in the employer EAP, Primary Care Physicians/Licensed Practitioners, and other segments to increase facility utilization.
Identify and cultivate relationships with potential referral sources, including hospitals, clinics, non-competing providers, and healthcare agencies.
Develop a designated number of qualified business development contacts per week, which will achieve the overall business development goals and objectives.
Market programs and facilities by preparing and providing informational brochures; writing and placing advertisements; answering questions; conducting tours.
Contact all primary accounts through personal visits, telephone calls and letters/mailers on an ongoing basis, developing and encouraging a relationship of trust with all active accounts.
Monitor referrals and admissions and plan an appropriate strategy to maximize referral potential.
Monitor industry trends, competition, and market changes to capitalize on business development opportunities.
Maintain current awareness of changes in the industry through self-education, peer education, and professional and community involvement for the betterment of this position and the facility.
Maintain an informational file on competition and provide insights to leadership.
Participate actively on the business development team to increase productivity and profitability.
Participate in the continuous analysis of the changing health care environment and health care market.
Participate with internal facility marketing such as the creation of an internal facility newsletter, employee communications, special event communications, etc.
Enhance organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Minimum Qualifications and SKILLS REQUIRED
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain a positive collaborative relationship among all constituencies.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in health care business development/marketing environment with measurable business development results.
Demonstrable experience in negotiating and managing contracts.
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of HIPAA PHI security requirements.
Strong organizational skills required.
Strong understanding of healthcare systems, including industry trends, competition, and market changes.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
