The Green & Healthy Homes Initiative (GHHI) is a 501(c)3 entity with the mission to address the social determinants of health, opportunity and equity through the creation of healthy, safe and energy efficient homes. By delivering a standard of excellence in its work, GHHI aims to eradicate the negative health impacts of unhealthy housing and unjust policies for children, seniors and families to ensure better health, economic and social outcomes in historically disinvested communities – with an emphasis on communities of color. Position Overview

The Director of Human Resources promotes a high level of human resource generalist expertise. Responsible for HR compliance, compensation framework, benefits administration, talent acquisition, succession planning, performance management and advancement for employees, applying technology efficiently, and provide coaching to others to help motivate and execute organizational objectives in the most efficient manner. Working with significant independence, developing processes to accomplish objectives in alignment with GHHI’s mission and business objectives. Additionally, utilizing a Human Resource Business plan that will align with the mission and vision of GHHI to deliver HR services that enable organizational success.

Minimum Requirements of Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in a Human Resources Management Global experience is desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in either Human Resources or a business-related field required; an MBA or master’s in human resources management is preferred.
  • Strong HR leadership and technical skills, with demonstrated business partnership experience in supporting integrations, growth, and business development.
  • Demonstrated success translating business strategies into organizational and HR strategies and actions.
  • Comprehensive HR experience, including a complete understanding of and hands-on exposure to the full mix of HR functions.
  • Experience working across a complex organizational matrix.
  • A track record of positive results creating programs/policies that have contributed to the growth and bottom-line profitability while enhancing or driving cultural change.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Core Work Responsibilities:

Effective Communication:

  • Communicates effectively and professionally in both formal and informal situations in accordance with high standards, recognizing that communication should be effective at various levels.
  • Ensures that communications from the Human Resources department are clearly defined, effective, efficient, and active and in accord with GHHI guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate guidance and advisory material, on various HR matters, to management, departments and GHHI’s employees
  • Manages the Human Resources objectives of GHHI and follows-up on employee relations activities.

Managing Recruitment, Human Capital & Succession Planning Process:

  • Champions and builds talent management levels in support of the organization’s diversity, inclusion, and racial equity strategy.
  • Coordinates the human capital review process and leads succession planning activities as appropriate. Leads the assessment of the organization’s leadership and talent pipeline through the human capital review process and assists with follow-up.
  • Analyzes open positions to balance the advancement of existing talent against business needs against financial controls. Serves as coach, collaborator and expert facilitator of the selection and interviewing process.
  • Reveals opportunities in work processes and staffing optimization. Makes staffing decisions to manage talent pipeline.
  • Develops staffing strategy (in collaboration with hiring manager) relating to hiring practices; consults with hiring manager on compensation, benefits, etc.
  • Monitors sourcing process and outcomes of staffing process.
  • Ensures managers are competent in assessing and evaluating staff.

Effective Problem Solving & Decision Making:

  • Make recommendations across a wide range of highly complex HR issues, requiring analysis, interpretation, comparison of a range of options, considering Federal & State legislation, health & safety measures.
  • Demonstrate initiative in recommending, contributing to, or proposing strategic or operational changes and improvements at functional or corporate level!
  • Ensure that a robust understanding and approach to risk management underpins all relevant strategic and operational activities.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and delivery of the organization ’s HR philosophy.

Learning and Development:

  • Develop and enhance strategies and policies to maximize the skill set of employees so that they can deliver the objectives of their role.
  • Plan and develop the suite of training and development programs which are appropriate for each type and level of employee for inclusion within relevant performance appraisal processes.
  • Review the internal and external training and development resources available and offered to employees to ensure that they are of the highest standard and meet the specific needs of the learning and development organizational needs.

Managing Employee Compensation Strategy:

  • Champions GHHI’s racial equity plan and ensures alignment with compensation by participating in quarterly internal equity analysis; reviews internal equity reports and surface issues needing resolution.
  • Remains current and knowledgeable in the internal and external compensation and work competitive environments. Leads the planning of the total compensation strategy.
  • Champions the communication and proper use of total compensation systems, tools, programs, policies, etc.
  • Creates and implements total compensation management packages/offers, particularly recognition and incentive programs directed towards property priorities.

Manage the Planning and Organization of all Human Resources related activities :

  • Ensures the HR department prepares, negotiates, and manages the department’s budget including identifying future requirements in terms of capital, revenue, and employee budgets.
  • Ensures effective planning and prioritization of own time and resources and structuring work programmed to meet appropriate department and organizational deadlines.
  • Ensures processes relating to time & attendance, State and Federal regulations, grievances and disciplinary procedures are followed and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Ensures completion of the duties and responsibilities of the properties' Human Resources staff members, as outlined in applicable job description(s).
  • Ensures property Human Resources staff is properly trained in all employee-related human resource information to appropriately respond to property employees. Serves as resource to property Human Resources staff on employee relations questions and issues. Continually reinforces positive employee relations concepts.
  • Monitors the effective use of employee HR systems and collaborates with benefits vendors, managers and employees on tasks and resources.
  • Responsible for Human Resources strategy and execution and serves as key change manager for initiatives that have high employee impact.
  • Attends meetings as a member of the organization’s leadership team and provides meaning or context to the Human Resources results (e.g., racial equity plan, hiring and retention statistics, critical open positions, employee satisfaction, and training initiatives and results); and demonstrates an understanding of GHHI’s mission, values, and priorities.
  • Work closely with the executive, senior and employee population to provide an integrated provision of service delivery in line with the GHHI’s mission and vision.
  • Develop, quantify, evaluate, and monitor an appropriate set of performance indicators for the HR department.
  • Identify and advise management of situations where external legal advice is necessary on a personnel matter, particularly in relation to Employment law.
  • Provide professional input and provide overall coordination for all stages of recruitment and including preparation of advertisements, pre- and post-interview documentation, interview arrangements, record keeping and compliance matters.
