Description

POSITION FUNCTION

The Director, Human Resources serves as operations director for Human Resources; oversee day-to-day HR operations; coordinates benefit administration, recruitment efforts, special projects, planning, project development and problem solving; liaison between HR and key internal and external constituencies; provide leadership and supervision of HR operations/staff, and performs other duties as assigned.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Administers benefit programs to include analysis and serving as primary contract with benefit providers, workers' compensation, unemployment and retirement plans. 

  • Manages open enrollment process
  • Ensures accuracy of monthly invoices
  • Responds to employee inquiries regarding benefits
  • Handles COBRA administration
  • Stays current on benefit related laws and regulations to ensure UI&U compliance.

Manages recruitment effort for all exempt and nonexempt employees.

  • Conduct full-cycle recruitment of new employees, including placing advertisements, developing contacts with recruiting sources, interviewing,consulting with internal hiring managers and managing orientation and onboarding process. 
  • Conducts new hire orientations.
  • Handles exit interviews.

Manages Unemployment claims/payments/tax and surety filings within states.

  • Timely response to all unemployment claims.
  • Includes claims investigation and consultation with third party administrator.
  • Ensures accurate payment of invoices.
  • Manages requisite surety bond filings and tax compliance for all states in coordination with payroll specialist.

Directs daily operation of Human Resource Office 

  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Supervises Human Resource staff.

Manages Wellness Initiatives 5%

  • Leads wellness initiatives.
  • Manages and coordinates events.
  • Manages Leave of Absence processes/STD/LTD/Life Claims.
  • Counsels managers and employees re: LOA processes and policies.
  • Reviews and analyzes LOA requests.
  • Coordinates paperwork and requests with employees and TPA for STD/LTD/Life Claims.

Oversees Audit of bi-weekly payroll 

Responds to inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs 

Performs various special projects 

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES

REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge and skills at a level normally acquired through the completion of an Bachelor’s Degree and 7-10 years’ experience in human resources.
  • Working knowledge of HRIS systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain highest level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent skills in organization, attention to detail, and flexibility.
  • Professional interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituents.
  • Advanced knowledge of employment law and regulations including multiple state regulations.
  • PHR certification.

NOTE: Full-time. Regular working hours, Monday-Friday. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

  • Master’s Degree
