The Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Rockville, MD

Description

 General Description: The Director of Human Resources manages and oversees the operations, technology, and human resources for MCCH. The Director of Human Resources is a key member of the executive and senior leadership team and is responsible for the strategic direction of human resources. 

Salary: $115,000.00 - $120,000.00

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve as a critical member of the MCCH/CH Executive Team
  • Supervise HR staff
  • Ensure personnel files comply with all Federal, State, and Local laws
  • Counsel and advise staff on a wide variety of sensitive personnel issues (e.g. discipline, hiring, promotions, return to work, etc.) for the purpose of assisting in effective decision making and enforcing all relevant policies, procedures and regulations
  • Oversee processing of all claims and paperwork related to workers compensation, disability, FMLA, and other legal requirements
  • Manage employee benefits including open enrollment and staff compensation
  • Responsible for retirement plan compliance and act as the plan administrator
  • Oversee the dissemination, tracking, and compiling of annual staff evaluations
  • Investigates grievances and/or complaints related to employees
  • Represent MCCH/CH in outside hearings and proceedings
  • Research and recommend employee benefits and safety, welfare and health and wellness programs to recruit and retain staff. Provides COVID-19 safety guidance as it relates to staff and clients in collaboration with the Chief Programs Officer and other MCCH/CH leadership
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and communicate changes to all staff
  • Prepare and update job descriptions
  • Administer and develop staff training and development programs
  • Responsible for staff communications and morale
  • Assist Executive management with talent management and recruiting strategies
  • Work directly with consultants and outside counsel regarding employment-related issues
  • Coordinate with facilities administrator and outside vendors and contractors with facilities related issues
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  •  Undergraduate degree in Human Resources or related field (HR/Organization Development or Business Administration). Master’s Degree preferred 
  • Highly preferred – PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
  • At least seven to ten years Human Resources experience
  • Minimum of two to five years supervision in Human Resources
  • Must have working knowledge and be current with all relevant employment related laws. Has knowledge of industry trends and employment legislations
  • Functional knowledge of building and facilities and risk management
  • Must have computer skills and ability to troubleshoot IT related issues
  • Functional knowledge of business administration and strategic planning
  • Functional knowledge of IT and telecommunications systems
  • Excellent analytical skills and writing skills and good reasoning abilities and judgment
  • Experience working with a diverse workforce and in a non-profit environment a plus
