Description

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist reports to the Human Resources Director at Telgian Engineering & Consulting, LLC. Primary duties include the timely and accurate processing of the organization’s payroll; managing employee benefits changes; maintaining employee records; reconciling accounts; and driving continuous improvement and standardization within the functional area.

Your Opportunity

• Responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for multiple locations; reviews and ensures accuracy of approved timesheets; track other special payroll earning and deductions.
• Responsible for reconciling paid time off between timekeeping system and HRIS system
• Process all benefit changes including new hires, life events, terminations, and COBRA enrollments and subsequent payroll deductions.
• Act as primary point person to address employee inquiries regarding pay.
• Responsible for the coordination of efforts between payroll, human resources, 3^rd party providers, finance/accounting and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, e.g., payroll by labor allocation, overtime, leave balances, head count & retirement contribution reports.)
• Handle the timekeeping administration of the electronic system, validate programs for each employee’s charges and adherence to FLSA, monitor submissions of approved timesheets, ensure validation of data transfers to/from payroll service.

• Track & enter all adjustments for each pay period, verify hours and payment through the system, issue deductions, garnishments, earnings, process new hires, terminations & all other special payroll deductions.
• Review & monitor Paycom tax filings and payments made on our behalf.

• Handle all benefit compensation and reimbursement procedures; responsible for ensuring timely payment of monthly benefits premiums including reconciliation of benefit accounts and billing statements.
• Establish and maintain employee records, ensure that employee changes are entered correctly and made on a timely basis; review changes for proper authorization and adherence to policy including compliance with federal/state/local regulations.
• Process verifications of employment.
• Keep apprised with company policies, payroll/benefit legislations and requirements that impact remuneration or benefits and communicates changes and/new requirements to HR.
• Other related duties as necessary.

Your Qualifications

• Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Certificates, licenses, and registrations: CPP preferred; FPC preferred
• Computer skills required: Human Resource Systems; Microsoft Office Suite; Payroll Systems (Paycom preferred), Deltek Vision
• Other skills required:
  • 2-3 years of previous payroll experience
  • 2-3 years of Customer Service
