Low Income Housing Institute is Hiring a Human Resources Director Near Seattle, WA

Human Resources Director

LOCATION: LIHI Main Office, 1253 S. Jackson St, Seattle WA- On-site position

POSTING DATE: 03/15/2024

REPORTS TO: Executive Director

HOURS: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

PAY RANGE: $115,000 - $145,000 annually

BENEFITS: Medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long term disability insurance and sick leave are available to employees. Employees accrue 116 hours of vacation during the first year and receive 11 paid holidays.

POSITION SUMMARY: Full-time; Exempt

Low Income Housing Institute is seeking a strategic Director of Human Resources with proven experience leading, overseeing and implementing human resources functions. This role will partner with the executive team and ensure programs, policies and initiatives are aligned within the company.

Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition and Organizational Development

  • Maintain recruitment and retention policies, procedures and practices.
  • Expand training for staff and continue a diverse and inclusive approach in hiring practices.
  • Develop, improve, and reinforce strategies, structures, and processes.

Employee and Labor Relations

  • Partner with the executive team on negotiations on the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Serve as liaison with the union. Build and maintain a constructive relationship with representatives.
  • Manage the process for disciplinary actions, employment terminations and grievances in accordance with labor laws.
  • Direct supervisors on the employee performance review process.
  • Train and coach managers while developing a partnership to achieve an effective performance structure.
  • Consult on difficult, confidential and complex HR issues.
  • Consult at all levels of the organization.

Benefits Administration

  • Partner with broker to review vendor submissions, coverage comparisons, and approve employee benefits package annually.
  • Coordinate annual Open Enrollment.

Employment Law Compliance

  • Oversee employee contracts, compensation/salary administrative functions, and personnel and leave records, and employee performance evaluations.
  • Oversee preparation of employee paperwork (PAF) for transfers, FTE updates, promotions, benefits and terminations.
  • Oversee input of employment, benefits and Affordable Care Act (ACA) data in HRIS/ADP.
  • Oversee management of leave processes for employees Family Medical Leave, Paid Family Medical Leave, and the Americans with Disabilities Acts.
  • Oversee the Safety and Health Committees.

Other

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • A bachelor degree in business administration with a concentration in human resources management or a related field.
  • A minimum of five years in a human resources leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR labor laws, employee relations, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing system processes.
  • Experience using an HRIS system – data input and generation of reports.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Excellent management, supervisory and problem solving skills.
  • Known to regularly exhibit leadership behavior – honest, compassionate, strategic, moral courage, ethical, results-driven and decisive.
  • Experience in implementing a diverse and inclusive culture.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SPHR/SHRM-SCP Certification
  • Experience working with unions.
