Alliance for Community Empowerment Inc is Hiring a Director of Operations (FT) Near Los Angeles, CA

POSITION HIGHLIGHTS:
Position:The Director of Operations will set and guide the strategy for maintaining all ACE Facility needs, tasks, and projects. The Director of Operations will develop facility-related policy in alignment with all relevant codes and regulations and will ensure that staff are trained in facility stewardship and safety procedures. They will strategize, contract, and monitor all construction and renovation projects on ACE properties, conduct research, select and requisition needed materials and supplies, and monitor and supervise the conduct and execution of projects in all aspects of facility repair, renovation, and maintenance projects, including project planning and resource allocation. This position will manage permits, fire extinguishers, and the enforcement of facility policies to maintain a safe and compliant environment. This position will expand the inventory system for our common assets and will coordinate the use of common resources, such as ACE vehicles, equipment, and meeting rooms. This position will also supervise logistics, technology, and janitorial staff to ensure smooth operations and facility maintenance.

  • Demonstrates cultural competence/cultural humility in community relations and service delivery.
  • Has or completes training and certification in basic construction skills, OSHA-10 safety requirements, and First Aid/CPR.
  • Familiar with a wide array of materials, equipment, and supplies needed for maintenance and replacement of common fixtures and fittings in standard office space.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Periodically review methods for maintaining facilities and equipment; propose alternatives; supervise related staff and contractors.
  • Prepare and update space utilization plans for all ACE properties, ensuring adequate facilities, their efficient use, and accurate allocation of space-related costs; propose alternatives for securing improvements in space and utilization.
  • Performs basic tasks, including painting, maintenance repairs, and other organizational facility needs.
  • Perform repairs on company machinery, equipment, or appliances.
  • Detects and reports the need for significant maintenance repairs.
  • Project Manager for facility repair, renovation and maintenance projects.
  • Regularly checks community spaces to identify various safety issues, including but not limited to litter, mechanical failure, or breakdowns.
  • Responsible for ensuring the facility is safe for program operation and acts as liaison with ACE’s Facility Coordinator to resolve facility issues.
  • Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manages outside facility services (e.g., pest control, cleaning, maintenance, security, utilities).
  • Carries out or arranges repairs to plumbing, electrical, and safety systems.
  • Supervises and maintains the cleanliness of outside spaces such as parking lots and sidewalks; maintains trash containers on ACE premises.
  • Conducts performance assessments of company appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves, stoves, ovens, and coffee makers.
  • Provide support and guidance on maintaining ACE equipment.
  • Responsible for successful review and compliance with CalOSHA’s IIPP/CPP, and OSHA.
  • Responsible for leading training around ACE building safety and security protocols.
  • Ensures ACE compliance with property-related reporting requirements such as property filings, building permits, facility grant resorts, etc.
  • Ensures ACE has all necessary permits and inspections up to date, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, facility policy enforcement, etc.
  • Assesses and maintains an inventory of ACE assets, trains and enforces department inventory procedure compliance.
  • Facilitates and reviews facility policies, procedures, and safety training for staff.
  • Develop facility policies, procedures, and common workspace agreements.
  • Coordinates the use of “common resources” like ACE vehicles, equipment, meeting rooms, etc.
  • Collaborates with leadership for the strategic planning of resources needed in alignment with ACE program goals.
  • Supports the fiscal team with the creation of annual budgets, managing the budget for facilities.
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development to bring in funding for resources.
  • Provides supervision and coaching to logistics, technology, and Janitorial staff.
  • Attends and participates in all mandatory meetings.
  • Fosters positive relationships with community members and partner organizations.
  • Participate in cultural and community-building activities/events.
  • Works to incorporate into organizational culture best practices for diversity, equity, inclusion, restorative justice, and trauma-informed care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night when needed.
  • Must be able to perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 4 years working experience in project management and/or in a similar role.
  • NCCER/MC3 and OSHA Certification preferred.
  • Possess reliable transportation, a current California Driver’s License, a clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance.
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check.
  • Initial TB employment clearance required.

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $72,667 to $77,556 annually. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
