Los Alamos National Laboratory is Hiring a SCIF Security Specialist 2 with Security Clearance - Now Hiring Near Los Alamos, NM

What You Will Do As a SCIF Security Specialist with the SCIF Operations Group (SSO-2) within the Sensitive and Special Operations Division, you will support excellence in Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF). Using your knowledge of applicable DOE-IN, NNSA, and/or LANL safeguards and security policies and procedures Your assignments will include processing SCI requests, SCIF visitor requests, coordinating reportable actions, validating training, and LANL guest scientist agreements. You will receive extensive on-the-job training (OJT) to ensure you are properly certified to perform assigned functions in a challenging and rewarding environment. This position involves providing internal and external customer service with a high degree of consequence of error to ensure safety and security of national security interests and facilities. This position will report to the SSO-2 Personnel Security Team Leader. You will represent SSO during customer interactions internal and external to the Laboratory for execution of personnel security duties and provide support to fellow team members. This position will require occasional travel and working non-standard hours. You may be required to be on-call for duty at minimum of one week each month (24/7 including holidays). When on-call, you must be able to respond to the worksite within one hour. What You Need Minimum Job Requirements: Technical Knowledge Technical experience in one or more of the major security areas: information security, physical security, computer security, personnel security, classified matter management protection and control, and SCIF operations, personnel security, security assessments, and internal tracking of security assessment findings. Specialized knowledge and relevant experience in personnel security, such as badging, report preparation, clearance processing, visits, clearance verification(s), clearance transfers, and related records management. Experience in providing supporting and assisting other security personnel to fulfill projects and organizational objectives. Knowledge and experience with security functions requiring extensive documentation and data management. DOE Experience: Familiar with DOE Orders and LANL requirements as related to Safeguards and Security Programs and experience in DOE security audits and inspections. Knowledge and experience with DOE policies and requirements regarding SCIF operations. Knowledgeable with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), security requirements, or other high-security activities. Investigation Experience: Experience conducting research, investigation alternatives, and recommending solutions on problems affecting security and safeguards. Communication Ability to prepare and present security and safeguards reports to internal and external customers at all levels. Excellent communication skills, ability to effectively interact and collaborate with colleagues, as well as internal and external customers. Proven ability to operate in a team environment. Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 4 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of related education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: * Knowledgeable with one or more of the following: ICDs, National Industrial Security Program Operations Manual (NISPOM) or relevant DOE Orders for Safeguard and Security.
* Experience working with and administering procedures in compliance with one or more of the following:
* Intelligence Community Directives (ICDs)
* National Industrial Security Program Operations Manual (NISPOM), or equivalent DOE Orders for Safeguards and Security operations.
* Active DOE Q and SCI clearances highly desired.
Location: This position will be located in Los Alamos, NM. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A. Clearance: Q/SCI(Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad. *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer. Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status. Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.
