Los Alamos National Laboratory is Hiring an ESH Training Specialist (Learning Specialist 3) with Security Clearance - Now Hiring Near Los Alamos, NM

What You Will Do As a an ESH Training Specialist, you will be responsible for researching and developing Health, and Safety, compliance-training programs concentrating on ESH, OSHA, Physics, Chemistry and Biology subject matters. You will be assimilating regulatory practices, state, federal, and internal regulations relevant to organizational operations standards building solid training courses and programs to qualify LANL professionals. You will be assigned to manage a portfolio of courses including creation and recurring reviews of course content, supporting documentation using the Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation (ADDIE) model, and instructor delivery of classroom and live online courses. You will work with multiple stakeholder groups, building collaborative relationships, and coordinating with peers to engage needed resources to drive learning solutions that meet customer needs, regulatory drivers, and contractual requirements. What You Need The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and collaborative skills, a solid understanding of how people learn, advanced ability to read and interpret regulation, and the creative and technical skill to manage and teach a portfolio of training courses. Minimum Job Requirements: Teamwork and Leadership Experience working in a complex organization of diverse operations, combined with a demonstrated ability to function collaboratively with varying teams. Advanced ability to confidently conduct meetings and manage organized group projects. Operational Functions Demonstrated ability to work with subject matter experts analyzing training needs and assuring training courses and products are up to date with regulatory drivers and contractual requirements. Expertise delivering innovative and engaging classroom and live online courses utilizing adult learning strategies. Proven expertise developing and delivering training on a variety of Health and Safety subject matters (e.g., ESH, OSHA, Physics, Chemistry and Biology). Course Development and Delivery Demonstrated expertise in the use of common computer-based software and eLearning software, and shared database applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe and Articulate products, Oracle, etc.). Working knowledge of course development utilizing a Systematic Approach to Training (e.g., ADDIE). Education and Experience Position requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 8 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Desired Qualifications: • Basic knowledge of Department of Energy (DOE) training, qualification, and readiness drivers and requirements as they pertain to nuclear facilities. • Experience working in nuclear facilities or government contracting firms. • DOE Clearance Note to Applicants: For full consideration, please include a detailed cover letter explaining how you meet each of the minimum requirements and any of the desired qualifications. Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation): Stand on feet for up to 8 hours to teach classroom led courses, lift boxes/training materials up to 25 lbs. Location: This position will be in Los Alamos, NM with the potential for a hybrid work arrangement (partially onsite/partially offsite) from a location within 2 hours ground commute of this location. Reporting onsite will be periodically required. Hybrid is at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice. Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. This position requires a Q clearance which requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon position, additional authorization to access nuclear weapons information may be required that may or may not be available to dual citizens depending upon the circumstances. *Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information. New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer. Regular position: Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular-status positions are converted to regular status. Internal Applicants: Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
