Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Under general direction, this position will coordinate the management of the division by providing input into the planning, development, and implementation of Department programs related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This position will provide professional assistance to the Deputy Director in the research, design, implementation, and reporting of special studies/projects and serve as liaison to various program managers. The position will also provide input into the division’s operational budget and expenditures and will review and recommend for approval purchases to ensure that operational needs are met. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is focused on ensuring that supportive functions and processes are fulfilled in an efficient, effective manner. Job Responsibilities
1. Serves as Staff Assistant
2. Provides professional assistance to the Deputy Director in the research, design, implementation, and reporting of special studies/projects on programmatic and administrative responsibilities
3. Provides input into the division’s operational budget and expenditures
4. Serves on various inter- and intra-agency committees
5. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
Minimum Qualifications
1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration
2. Requires two years of professional experience in a public or private organization
Preferred Qualifications
1. 3 years of professional experience as an administrative assistant in a public or business organization
2. 3 years of professional experience conducting special projects in a public or business organization
3. 3 years of professional experience conducting research in a public or business organization
4. 3 years of professional experience serving as a liaison for a public or business organization
5. 1 year of experience performing timekeeping functions in a public or business organization
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to pass a background check
2. Requires possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to travel
3. Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, with a focus on Excel
