Position Summary

Core to our strategy is to develop a world class technology platform to empower our customers, both consumers and businesses, with transparent, cost-effective and financially prudent savings and retirement solutions. The Business Development Manager will report into the Chief Strategy Officer, Life & Annuity, and support various internal and external-facing initiatives, spanning sales, marketing, strategic planning and product development. Group 1001 is looking for a self-motivated, all-around athlete who is eager to learn about new businesses, technologies, and markets and possesses the business judgement and commercial acumen to vet opportunities and help drive them forward to completion.

What You’ll Do

  • Relationship Management: Take ownership of various fintech partners including identifying and developing potential commercial opportunities, gathering operational and technical requirements, and coordinating across stakeholders to secure internal buy-in and deliver on the proposed deal.
  • Product Launch: Oversee deadlines working closely with the actuarial, technology, operations and legal teams to follow up on deliverables and hold parties accountable to established timelines.
  • Strategy Development: Assist in the development of our go-to-market strategies by gathering market data and intelligence, performing competitive analyses, and developing effective proposals and presentation materials.
  • Contracting Process: Work with our Legal team as required to shepherd both inbound and outbound opportunities through the contracting process, including negotiation and execution.
  • Marketing Campaigns: Help in the planning and execution of marketing initiatives to align our marketing assets and sponsorships to our core strategy in both the B2C and B2B parts of our business.

What We’re Looking For

In addition to a stellar proven track record in the business development arena, we’re searching for the following attributes:

  • 5 years’ experience in sales, partnerships and/or strategic business development roles; strategic consulting and investment banking backgrounds preferred but not required
  • Interest in and experience with the insurance industry is a plus
  • Self-starter mentality with ability to prioritize, manage, and deliver on multiple projects simultaneously; highly motivated and able to work against aggressive schedules.
  • Comfort with the unknown. We’re building a world-class platform but have to manage the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders. Our product roadmap is also constantly changing to reflect changing strategy and the competing needs of our customers.
  • Familiarity and ease with the fintech ecosystem, B2B and B2C technology applications and how technology platforms serve customer businesses.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Confidence in serving as the face of Group 1001 for prospective customers and partners who may comprise C-suite executives and entrepreneurs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work cross-functionally to deliver on the customer’s needs.
  • Superior communication skills (interpersonal, verbal, email, and presentation)
  • Positive attitude, team player, adaptable, resourceful, and self-starter who is able to work independently. 

What We Offer

💰 Competitive base salary of $90-$157k, depending on experience
