Job Overview
The Associate Director of Development Athletics (ADOD) will play a key role within the Athletic Development team and the Office of Advancement. This position will hold a portfolio of 150-200 donors with the intent of raising $300,000 on an annual basis with 8-12 asks of $100,000 or greater.
The ADOD is responsible for providing full-spectrum support to development officers in the form of portfolio review, maintenance, and strategy; prospect identification and research, and solicitation strategy. The ADOD is also responsible for serving as the point of contact for the department's stewardship efforts and preparation of materials related to endowment reporting. Additionally, this role will incorporate front-line development work through qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of a portfolio of donors.
The Associate Director is responsible for the day-to-day fulfillment of prospect research inquiries and requests in support of Georgetown University's fund-raising initiatives. The ADOD provides accurate, timely and comprehensive analysis and information about prospective donors to the University. The ADOD will also engage in the identification and reporting of new prospective donors for placement in fundraiser portfolios, using weekly gift reports and other data pulled from GU360.
As the liaison for Athletic Development stewardship efforts the Associate Director will work with the Senior Director of Development (SDOD), Development Assistant, Engagement team, Athletic Administration, front-line fundraisers, coaches, and other internal constitutes to develop and implement holistic stewardship efforts including endowed fund reporting, gift acknowledgments, press releases and communication with the Office of Advancement's Stewardship and Principal gift teams.
The Associate Director will provide general administrative support for self and all other major gift officers on the team, including budgets, staff solicitation visits, weekly gift reports, and donor information; entering contact reports and prospect strategies in donor profiles. The ADOD will also be responsible for the gift process: entering and tracking asks, proposals, Gift Agreements/Statement of Intents, gift transmittal forms, and coordination with the Office of Gift Administration to confirm successful allocation of gifts.
Work Interactions
The diversity of the Associate Director's workload requires teamwork, flexibility, efficiency, attention to detail, external relations focus, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for a wide variety of assignments. This position requires tact, diplomacy and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors. The Associate Director will work with coaches, senior administrators, Advancement leaders and individuals throughout the Athletic Department in order to provide the resources needed for student-athletes to succeed in the classroom, community, and field of competition.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
2 to 3 years of work experience ideally - and preferably in a development/fundraising environment
Ability to work efficiently and effectively, at times under tight deadlines
Strong problem-solving abilities; the ability to exercise independent judgment and imitative as appropriate. Attention to detail is critical
Understanding and practice of a high standard of confidentiality and ethical information collection
Highly developed interpersonal, written and oral communications skills required
Strong collaborative and project management skills; ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
Willingness and availability for schedule flexibility for working some nights and weekends, and for travel
