Job Overview
The Associate Director, Board Management provides essential coordination, communication, and project management to strategically engage Georgetown University's senior-most advisory group of volunteer leaders, the Board of Regents and the Parents Leadership Council (PLC), as well as campaign volunteer leadership. Reporting to the Director of Board Engagement, this position is responsible for developing and sustaining the board's engagement opportunities, communications mechanisms, and overall facilitation of events, logistics, and special projects related to the board's and the council's work. They oversee the planning for the board's three annual multi-day board meetings and a retreat for the executive committee and work with the Director of Board Engagement on the strategy and content of those meetings. They collaborate with the Family Philanthropy team to plan two council meetings each year and help manage and respond to the needs of individual council members.
Work Interactions
This position works closely with colleagues across Advancement, including leadership, members of the Development, Strategic Initiatives, and Special Events teams. They regularly assess the health and engagement of board committees and works with the board's executive committee and internal partners to ensure all are functioning and supported effectively. The role regularly interacts and advises board members, in particular, members of the Regent executive committee and chair of the PLC.
Internally, the role also manages the board's website, communications, and collateral, including maintaining comprehensive records and managing Board Effect. They help manage the board's $150K budget creation and reconciliation. The role also provides ad-hoc support and counsel to Advancement's larger Campaign Operations team, including supporting campaign planning, events, and university activities that involve Regents.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
3 years in the field of higher education development; event planning experience; fundraising knowledge; experience with highest level potential donors, boards, and issues
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience in Salesforce
Extraordinary organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent follow-through
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work and contribute in a team environment
Demonstrates a professional demeanor, good interpersonal skills, is highly organized and disciplined, relates easily to a wide range of groups and cultures
Independent thinker, creative, and a self-starter
