Associate Director of Development, School of Foreign Service - Office of Advancement - Georgetown University
Job Overview
This Associate Director of Development (ADOD) will ensure strong pipeline development from discovery to solicitation to gift closing. This position is designed to build connectivity and philanthropic intent among the SFS donor community. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director include building and managing a portfolio of donors with a capacity of making gifts in the four, five, and six-figure range, executing events, and managing the fundraising priorities of the Centers, Institutes and Programs (CIPS) within SFS. The CIPS can provide built-in constituencies with whom to create a pipeline for support; this will require close work with CIP directors, and a strategic plan for determining how to prioritize the various CIPS to maximize ROI. This should be in coordination with the SFS Dean to ensure his/her priorities are being supported.
This position has responsibility for fundraising initiatives and will focus on identifying and soliciting new prospects and building strong relationships which will ultimately lead to significantly greater levels of support for Georgetown. This position will institute a personal visit strategy designed to reach unmanaged prospects in the assigned region(s) to promote the Georgetown Fund and campaign priorities. Annual donor visit goals will be set annually, but generally will be between 120 and 140. Similarly, a minimum number of asks is required per year, in the range of 4 to 20. Dollar goals will be annually set based on pipeline, prospective donors, and the engagement lifecycle, but will likely be in the range of $250,000 to $750,000.
The ADOD, SFS, will need to travel in order to meet prospective and current donors, and will occasionally need to staff a principal or faculty member. This travel will, at times, require evenings and weekends. Additionally, this position will help ensure the continued development of a strong SFS community across key regions as the university's capital campaign continues. The position will do extensive prospecting to find new donors, with the ultimate goal of discovering and soliciting those who will support this campaign. This position will ensure that donors at all levels are engaged with the university. Finally, this position will coordinate with other teams as needed to cultivate and steward donors and prospects.
