Job Overview
The Director of Alumni Services oversees the program that delivers career and professional development programming and advising for the law school's alumni in the US and abroad. They have an essential role not only in maintaining and building strong relationships with alumni to meet their career and professional development needs, but also in expanding employment opportunities and connections for current students and recent graduates through our very large alumni population - 43,000. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Creates and directs the program to include increased resources, workshops, and webinars specific to the needs of alumni, particularly those interested in private sector and alternative careers
Expands relationships with alumni in order to secure mentors and informal advisors for students, as well as to seek out new opportunities for both current students and alumni
Provides some limited advising to recent graduates interested in the private sector and alternative careers and to those seeking to transition between the private and public sectors
Creates resources and podcasts to support the alumni in their job search efforts
Works closely with the Associate Director of Public Sector Alumni Services to coordinate efforts, including programming, resources, and webinars
Attends alumni events and create relationships with outside organizations, including search firms and vendors who have created job sources for graduates
With the Director, revamps how alumni services are currently being offered in order to serve more alumni, as well as to make connections for current students

Work Interactions
Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Office of Career Strategy, the Director of Alumni Services works closely with the Associate Director of Public Sector Alumni Services in the Office of Public Interest and Community Service (OPICS). They interact with OCS and OPICS advisors, as well as the OCS and OPICS recruitment teams in order to expand opportunities for current students and recent graduates; and works closely with the Office of Alumni Affairs. They are essential in not only serving the career and professional development needs of our alumni, but also in making important connections for recent graduates and students in order to help them secure employment opportunities.
Qualifications
J.D. or equivalent advanced degree
5 years of relevant experience
Career advising, coaching or mentoring experience, along with an understanding of the job markets for alumni in private and alternative careers
Demonstrated experience in creating or growing a new program and building lasting relationships with individuals
Ability to be innovative in delivering services to a large alumni population
Comfortable establishing new relationships in order to serve the alumni and current students
Preferred qualifications
JD with experience in different sectors, and/or a career advisor
Significant experience (5 years) advising law students and alumni in all sectors
Demonstrated ability to lead a program while working closely with others as part of a team
Deep knowledge of Georgetown Law to be able to deepen ties with alumni; established relationships with alumni across the globe
Knowledge of resources to identify organizations and jobs relevant to alumni
