Director of Business Development and Group Dining Sales

The role and responsibilities are outlined below:
Business Development
  • Strategize and create annual revenue growth plans and goals with senior leadership
  • Establish and nurture relationships with potential clients, partners and key stakeholders to identify collaborative opportunities and drive group dining sales
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and opportunities for business expansion
  • Ability to uncover, manage, and own account portfolio of recurring revenue opportunities, developing relationships directly with clients
  • Identify revenue growth opportunities for individual restaurants with alternative product offerings, or alternative strategies to enhance current offerings
  • Acquire new business that directly impact Fifth Group Restaurants (FGR) revenue objectives and align with business strategic initiatives via recurring revenue and high profile opportunities
  • hyper-focused on acquiring repeatable business within the Metro Atlanta market and outside Perimeter
  • Cultivate high level strategic relationships in the industry and community including hotels, corporate accounts, association boards, etc. both personally and by effective management of sales managers. Obtain general leads, targeted account leads in market segments identified in the business plan through managing inventory, new accounts, prospects, and new relationships within client accounts
  • Represent FGR personally or through sales managers and achieve a higher level of presence in industry organizations and communities, ie. Midtown Alliance, Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, Chamber of Commerce or any highly strategic organizations or neighborhoods that would best benefit FGR’s interests
  • Represent FGR at promo and marketing events as determined by the business plan and priorities
  • Have a clear understanding of and ability to express FGR company identity, restaurant concepts, position, event value and options
  • Full knowledge of FGR product, systems and service offerings including how to create contracts
People and Operations Management
  • Responsible for the ongoing nurturing of staff morale and a culture congruent with FGR’s values, purpose and mission
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, providing guidance on best practices, sales techniques, and customer relationship management to achieve revenue targets.
  • Manage negotiation of applicable contracts ensuring mutually beneficial terms for the restaurant group
  • Responsible for the thorough interviewing and hiring of all Sales Managers.
  • Responsible for the creation of and implementation of all initial and ongoing training and education programs related to business development and group dining sales
  • Learn and teach individual restaurant unit operations capabilities to generate high margin events that are consistently executable
  • Dynamically lead group dining team, managing strategic priorities set forth by the leadership to achieve both team and organization short-term and long-term goals – enhance offerings, selling skills, growth strategies
  • Participate in sales calls and attend events with sales managers to improve their sales skills.
  • Responsible for participation in the execution of annual written performance reviews of all Group Dining Sales Managers (GDSM)
  • Responsible for the continued development of GDSMs by successfully planning and executing weekly individual one on one meetings while assisting them in successfully meeting their financial targets
  • Collaborate with Marketing Director to develop promotional strategies and materials that highlight the group dining offerings attracting corporate clients and special events
  • Assist on events as needed to ensure successful client service expectations
  • Responsible for attaining all cross-company and cross-department referral goals
  • Build and develop strategies to meet and exceed sales goals; including company goals, personal sales goals, and sales handed off to sales manager
  • Collaborate effectively with Operations and GDSMs to ensure consistently well executed events
  • Collaborate with Bold C&D DOS for ongoing referrals
  • Identify areas for improvement in processes, services and systems to enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the business development function and GDSM processes.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with GMs and Directors
Knowledge, skills, & abilities
  • Demonstrate a commitment to Fifth Group Restaurants core values
  • Proven track record of success in a sales driven environment
  • 5 years of sales experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment
  • 3 years operational restaurant experience
  • Previous experience leading a sales team and experience with multiple brands is highly preferred
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to coach GDSM’s and manage performance conversations as applicable.
  • Ability to manage financial reports, inclusive of forecasting, analytical mindset, financial performance, monitor budgets while ensuring profitability goals for group dining team and restaurants
Physical Requirement
  • Candidates must be located within the commuting distance of Atlanta, Georgia, or be willing to relocate to the area
  • Regular travel between restaurants, offices, and other meeting locations will be required
  • Regularly requires sitting, and/or work at the computer for extended periods of time
  • This person needs to have the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Good fine motor dexterity and cognitive ability for effective typing
