Human Resources Director
Position Overview
One of the largest and most respected cannabis companies in Colorado, is looking for a Manager of Human Resources to oversee all HR programs for the company. Reporting directly to the CEO, the manager will oversee and execute a comprehensive human resources strategy for retail stores, cultivation operations and administrative office in Colorado and other states. The position is primarily remote-based, but the successful candidate will be required to attend in-person meetings in metro-Denver and at other company locations to meet with employees.
The Human Resources Manager will work strategically and hands-on with business leadership to plan and administer a comprehensive human resources program for the company. The successful candidate will have a thorough knowledge of human resource disciplines including employee relations, performance management, employee development, training, recruiting, on-boarding, dispute resolution, payroll, compensation, and benefits administration.
We’re looking for high-energy human resources manager to build the team and develop the systems, policies and procedures to support the business. As part of the leadership team, you will play an integral role in shaping our organizational culture and help the company stand out as the employer of choice in the cannabis industry.
Responsibilities
· Develop and implement an overall human resources program that supports a highly-effective, energized and productive team
· Develop organizational effectiveness initiatives including organizational design, leadership development, talent management, performance management and other related initiatives
· Develop and manage a comprehensive recruiting program including implementing technology and coordinating with managers and leadership to source, screen, interview and onboard successful candidates
· Support, advise and coach managers in navigating complex employee relations matters
· Manage and process bi-weekly payroll in partnership with finance team
· Manage and administer workers compensation in multiple states
· Ensure compliance with all relevant local, state, and federal employment laws including but not limited to FLSA, FMLA, Review, update, implement and administer human resource policies and practices including the employee handbook, compensation policies, and benefit programs.
· Create and implement training programs to enable employee development and performance
· Develop, maintain and assure compliance with appropriate policies and programs for effective management of the people resources
· Inform the budget process regarding all HR matters including, but not limited to, salaries and wages, benefits, recruiting, training and other employee programs
· Lead continuous improvement efforts and metrics development for all HR matters
· Ensure compliance with relevant employment law and regulations and support the overall compliance programs of the company
· Target Compensation Range: $75,000-$100,000 plus annual incentive, depending on experience
Requirements
· Minimum 5 years experience in human resources; prefer 3 years as an HR generalist
· Prefer experience with multi-site, multi-state businesses with 100 employees; cannabis industry experience is not required
· Prefer experience within industries subject to significant regulatory oversight (e.g. medical, financial services, cannabis)
· Prefer additional experience supporting an employee workforce in the manufacturing, construction, farming, and/or retailing industries
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalency in work experience required. Master’s Degree is a plus
· SPHR / PHR preferred
· Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to company locations and industry events
· Must be at least 21 years of age
· Must successfully pass a company and industry background checks
· Experience with change management and business transformation is a plus
