Bellota is Hiring an Executive Sous Chef Near San Francisco, CA

The Sous Chef position for Bellota is a very strategic position reporting to the Executive Chef. We are looking for someone that values mutual respect over anything else, no one person can shoulder the weight of the restaurant and we must work as a cohesive and professional team.

We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 3 years of experience as line cook and at least 1 year as a lead or in a supervisory role. Required skills include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Intimate familiarity w/all stations in the kitchen
  • Knowledge of most styles of cooking
  • Conscious of quality, cost, and seasonal availability
  • Proven menu planning, inventory, kitchen safety and sanitation management
  • Ability to make the right decisions instantly and consistently that gets the best from every situation
  • Must lead-by-example/ lead from the front. (e.g., You can run a rack of dishes every once and a while)
  • Excellent food handling skills/techniques and portion management
  • Reliable and flexible under pressure
  • Ability to train, motivate and effectively counsel staff
  • Consistently respectful and mindful of our objectives for service and quality
  • Excellent communications skills (English speaking w/basic kitchen Spanish required)

  • Excelentes habilidades/técnicas de manipulación de alimentos y manejo de porciones
  • Fiable y flexible bajo presión
  • Capacidad para capacitar, motivar y asesorar eficazmente al personal.
  • Consistentemente respetuoso y consciente de nuestros objetivos de servicio y calidad.
  • Excelentes habilidades de comunicación (se requiere hablar inglés con español básico de cocina)
