Job Title: Sales Representative

Work Schedule: Mon – Fri (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM)

Classification: Non-Exempt

Job Type: On-site

Compensation Range: $21.50-$27.50/hr plus Commission

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Director of Sales, the incumbent will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities with prospective customers while expanding business with existing customers. The Sales Representative must develop a deep understanding of our products and services to thoroughly answer technical customer questions and provide the highest level of customer engagement and support.

We are looking for someone who has positive energy, is driven, sales-focused, results-oriented, and has a friendly, helpful customer service approach. The incumbent will be responsible for meeting and/or exceeding sales goals and objectives, as well as achieving target profit margins as established by management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Identify and assess potential key future customers and convert them into new customers.
  2. Meet or surpass sales goals and profit margin targets set by management.
  3. Acquire product knowledge to engage in technical discussions with customers.
  4. Actively seek opportunities aligned with monthly product marketing initiatives and product training.
  5. Expand business with customers by providing additional products that are not already being supplied.
  6. Create new requirements and opportunities with current and prospective customers through excellent communication, discovery, and a professional sales approach.
  7. Convert opportunities and requirements into new orders by providing timely quotations, aggressive follow-up, and utilizing multiple closing techniques such as Trial Close, Assumptive Close, If-Then, Columbo, Jerry McGuire, etc.
  8. Develop multi-tiered relationships with customers in Purchasing and Engineering.
  9. Develop and expand business with new and existing customers who have a Supplier Diversity plan.
  10. Confidently communicate with customers through phone, email, video conferencing, and in-person.
  11. Monitor open orders to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
  12. Attend and work local and out-of-state conferences, trade shows, and both customer and supplier visits as needed.
  13. Utilize CRM for entering quotes, managing new contacts and customers, maintaining the sales pipeline, managing customer communication, and tracking general sales activities.
  14. Utilize Area51’s proprietary software program for all sales-related work.

Education

  • Required:
    • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; or equivalent technical work experience

Experience

  • Required:
    • At least 1 year of sales experience with a distributor or manufacturer of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical components
  • Preferred:
    • At least 3 years of sales experience with a distributor or manufacturer of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical components

Language Skills

  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely in English, verbally, and through written form to a diverse group of people.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
