The Business Development Leader will have overall responsibility for the growth of the trade business with a focus on high potential accounts in our largest markets, increasing market share and delivering profitable results. This leadership position will coach and direct the activities of our established and successful selling team to achieve or exceed company goals for sales and profitability. Works in direct partnership with the company’s Sales Leadership to set and influence the short and long-term strategic direction for the management and growth of high volume, major account business. The Leader will be the face of the brand in our largest markets, working to foster, cultivate, and grow relationships to drive increased market share and represent luxury design excellence.

The Leader will champion the Waterworks values with a fearless sales strategy, client-centric approach, integrity, and a passion for Waterworks products and brand.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work with Showroom Leadership and Sales Leadership to define and implement growth strategy for the market’s major accounts across all channels.
  • Develop rapport and work closely with the sales team to guide and develop individual associate’s accounts and CRM activity to understand how to grow the business and achieve company goals.
  • Strategically oversee the account management process, collaborating with Showroom Leadership and other market leaders to ensure trade accounts are properly assigned and serviced and positioned for growth.
  • Use company CRM and other company tools to build and maintain active profiles for all major accounts in a market, including client leadership and decision makers. Coach and manage Sales Consultants to utilize CRM and perform data hygiene/updates in line with company expectations.
  • Create account specific action plans to drive growth with measurable KPIs and monitor to meet or exceed targets.
  • Build strong and collaborative partnerships with Showroom Leadership and Sales Consultants to maximize sales results, service levels and coverage.
  • Ensure current account lists are allocated appropriately across the teams and are effectively serviced in order to increase sales.
  • Actively and consistently attend industry events to identify and secure new trade clients in the respective market area and to connect and interact with current clients to ensure luxury partner connection. Coach and mentor Sales Consultant to do the same.
  • In partnership with Showroom Leadership, owns the CEU schedule and agenda of events for the market to maximize opportunities.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with the trade community directly and through professional groups to increase Waterworks exposure and sales.
  • Consistently and regularly partner with sales teams to co-market for consistent face to face marketing to develop accounts, keep clients updated on new products, build each project with multiple lines of business , ensure we are consistently growing accounts, and teams are consistently out interacting with clients.
  • Work collaboratively and closely with Showroom Leadership to gain alignment around company goals and initiatives.
  • Assists in the development of cabinetry sales in partnership with team cabinetry expert and Sales Consultants.
  • Coach team to stay current on product range and competitors’ offerings, and report findings to cross functional partners.
  • Lead and model a culture of accountability and empowerment and be the champion for post-pandemic energy and growth.
  • Role model, promote and ensure the Waterworks values are lived within the team.
  • Empower associates to resolve client issues and implement solutions that are in line with company values and business needs.
  • Responsible for weekly/monthly sales reporting include team quotes and orders pipeline in partnership with showroom leader.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 8 years sales and business development experience across multiple channels in high end, luxury interior design industry or firm
  • Intimate knowledge of and existing relationships with high end industry clients in covered market
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing experienced sales teams within high end luxury brand environment
  • Fearless, sales centric approach to business and client relationships; networker and relationship builder
  • Innovative and strategic thinking
  • Ability to take charge, drive for results and make sound decisions quickly
  • Proven leader of people with experience successfully leading and developing experienced sales team; adept at communicating meaningful and actionable feedback
  • Ability to have honest and timely performance conversations with team members with professionalism and respect
  • Exceptional time management skills with ability to multi-task, and thrive in a busy and dynamic environment
  • Ability to inspire trust, integrity and professionalism
  • Well connected within the luxury design trade in the covered market
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications: working knowledge and experience with CRM systems
  • Will require occasional in showroom presence, and regular attendance at client meetings and industry events, and occasional travel to Waterworks headquarters, and other showroom locations
  • Plumbing/Tile/Surfaces/Construction background/exposure a plus

$100,000 - $125,000 a year
Compensation for this role is base salary plus a bonus plan. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Waterworks may require physical requirements within its Showroom locations as follows:

Ability to lift and mobilize small to medium items up to 25 lbs. while utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques. Ability to maneuver effectively around showroom floor, stock room and office. Position could entail periods of standing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending and climbing. Licensed to drive preferred.Ability to travel locally or out of state.
