    Primary Purpose:
    The Human Resources Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources assists in the management functions related to the personnel management of auxiliary and professional employees to ensure quality staffing effective practices in management. Manage the district personnel functions to ensure quality benefits, FMLA, and Workers Compensation, and employee service programs.
    Qualifications:
    Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50.00) paid by the employee
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals
    • Ability to exercise sound judgment in appraising situations and making decisions
    • Ability to communication effectively (verbal and written)
    • Ability to exercise initiative, firmness, and impartiality
    • Interpret policies and procedures, reason, read, understand verbal instruction, analyze, differentiate, coordinate, compile, instruct
    Experience:
    • 3 years experience in human resources
    • 3 years experience in Benefits/Risk Management
    Major Responsibilities and Duties:
    • Works cooperatively with Principals and Directors to ensure compliance with federal wage/overtime laws, state regulations, and school policy
    • Administers and tracks the district employee evaluation program and at-will work agreements to ensure they are implemented effectively and uniformly
    • Supports the application process to provide Principals and Directors with an applicant base for job openings
    • Assists with recruiting functions at colleges and job fairs
    • Provides information for staff projections
    • Supervises the maintenance of personnel files and service records
    • Responsible for the continual job postings for vacancies in the District
    • Responsible for review of volunteer criminal history records
    • Responsible for the calculation of new hire salaries to assure compliance of the integrity of the District pay system
    • Assists with the yearly board approved salary/wage and upgrades or changes in position for auxiliary staff
    • Coordinates the preparation and revision of job descriptions and/or job evaluations
    • Assists with the computer related personnel functions to include PEIMS, CHC’s, eFinance, Cognos, TRS, and TEA when needed.
    • Oversees the accountability of every instructional paraprofessional to assure each is compliant according to the No Child Left Behind Law
    • Possesses an understanding of the instructional leadership system to handle personnel matters related to student management concerns
    • Oversees employee leaves and absences related to FMLA, Worker's Compensation, and TDL
    • Oversees benefits enrollments for all new hires
    • Assists all district employees with insurance questions/problems/changes, etc.
    • Responsible for overseeing handling of unemployment claims
    • Manages Worker's Compensation program for the District
    • Assures District compliance with ADA, FMLA, COBRA, and HIPAA laws
    • Assists with EEOC claims as needed
    • Attends personnel workshops and meetings to keep abreast of procedures and practices at the state and federal levels
    • Attends risk management workshops to keep abreast of most current laws and trends in employee benefits and all insurances carried by the school district.
    • Participates in activities which support school/community goals
    • Serves as chairperson of the South San Antonio Sick Leave Bank Committee, overseeing and managing the program
    • Promotes and establishes effective communication channels with the division staff and District employees
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Supervisory Responsibilities
    • Supervise and evaluate the performance of human resources – auxiliary and substitute specialists
    Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
    • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
    • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional walking, standing, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, reaching, and twisting
    • Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse
    • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
    • Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional district wide and statewide travel
    • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
