Disability Services of the Southwest is Hiring a Human Resources Coordinator I Near San Antonio, TX

Location: Corporate Office San Antonio
Hours: M-F 8-5
Compensation: $18-19
Job Description:

Disability Services of the Southwest is seeking an entry level Human Resources Coordinator I to help support our growing corporate office.

Position Summary: Plan, direct or coordinate compensation, benefits and employee relations activities and organization, including new hire orientation and auditing.

Tasks:

  • Verify and complete pre-employment screening process to ensure proper documentation is obtained, including verification of employment and personal references as required by the Company.
  • Ensure all new employees are properly oriented and all new employees’ files are in compliance with the Company’s policies and procedures.
  • Conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
  • Assure criminal history background checks, payroll reports and post-hire reporting requirements are submitted within 72 hours of employment.
  • Maintain personnel records to ensure compliance with Company, State, and Federal Regulations.
  • Perform on-going file maintenance accurately for the Company.
  • Provide assistance and direction to employees when presented with questions about benefits enrollment and coverages.
  • Assist HR Manager and HR Director with intake of employee relations items and coordinate as needed with investigative and resolution responses.
  • Attend exit reviews during terminations as needed.
  • Assist with the investigation and collection of termination data as needed for Company response to unemployment claims.
  • Attend job fairs for recruitment of potential employees as needed.
  • Assure that all incident/accident report forms are properly investigated and correctly completed when submitted to the HR Department.
  • Participate in administrative staff meetings and attend other meetings for the Company as necessary.
  • Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Observe confidentiality policies at all times.
  • Comply with federal, state, & company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associates Degree or 4 year degree in Human Resources related field preferred.
  • One to two years Human Resources experience and/or office-related experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable state and federal regulations.
