Reading & Math, Inc. is Hiring a Human Resources Manager Near Minneapolis, MN

Overview:
THIS IS A REMOTE POSITION BUT CANDIDATE MUST LIVE IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing key areas of the human resources function to support a growing organization including performance management, employee relations, and worker’s compensation. Nurtures a positive work culture by providing insight and expertise on employee retention initiatives and coaching managers on human resources initiatives, policies and processes. This position observes confidentiality of all employee, member, and organizational information.
Responsibilities:
Human Resources
  • Partners with leadership to execute Ampact's strategies that align and scale human resources to meet the dynamic demands of national growth.
  • Implements diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives in alignment with DEI strategy.
  • Provides HR oversight to cross-functional Accommodations team.
  • Leads, manages change, and implements HR projects and processes ensuring effective communication and training is in place for the organization.
  • Interprets and applies understanding of Ampact policies and practices, employment law, and AmeriCorps regulations to provide guidance to employees and members.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews and updates policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Leads and contributes to process improvement work within the Human Resources department.

Employee/Member Relations
  • Manages employee and member relations processes; works in collaboration with Sr. Director of Human Resources, Compliance, Legal Counsel, and Managers to resolve concerns and create solutions.
  • Conducts internal investigations related to workplace complaints and grievances to include: gathering and analyzing facts, applying relevant laws, policies and past practices to reach conclusions and resolve issues. Escalates issues and investigations to Sr. Director of Human Resources, as needed.
  • Maintains required documentation, including investigative notes and supporting documents.
  • Provide expertise and coaching to managers and employees to address behavior and performance concerns, plans for improvement, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and AmeriCorps regulations, managing the balance of the best interests of Ampact, employees and members.
  • Develops, implements and facilitates training for managers on supervision and employee relations topics, including state required anti-harassment training.
  • Performance Management
  • Manages employee performance management process life cycle, technology, tools, training.
  • Manages components of the performance evaluation to align with Ampact goals and priorities.
  • Reviews and updates job descriptions, ensuring they are evaluated for FLSA exemption, EEO and Workers Compensation classification, placement in compensation grade structure and implemented across all HR system platforms.
  • Conducts exit interviews and prepares turnover analysis reports.
  • Provides oversight to employee recognition policies.

Workers Compensation
  • Develops, manages, and implements company-wide workplace injury and loss prevention program to reduce accident frequency, severity and financial loss.
  • Manages the workers compensation claims process for employees and members, ensuring timely and accurate claim submissions. Manages partnership and communication with insurance carriers to ensure active claim management.
  • Works with managers and site supervisors to investigate claims, determine cause of injury, complete paperwork, coordinate liability and resolution with site.
  • Interviews employees and members regarding claims to understand cause of injury. Responds to inquiries regarding claims, collects documentation, ensures timely and smooth return to work.
  • Develops, implements, and facilitates required and best practice training for managers, employees, and members to promote injury prevention and safety awareness.
  • Monitors compliance with the industry standards and relevant federal, state, and local OSHA and safety laws and regulations, updating policies and processes as needed.
  • Completes state and federal OSHA filings.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business or related field or equivalent work experience
  • PHR/SPHR preferred

Minimum Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • 5 years of experience with increasing responsibility in human resources, with broad exposure to all areas of HR; Multi-state employer experience preferred.
  • 5 years of experience handling employee relations investigations and resolving issues.
  • Strong conflict management and coaching skills
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience applying federal, state and local employment laws, especially ADA, Workers Compensation, paid and unpaid leaves, EEO, OSHA.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and implementing change and process improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience as a trusted advisor with ability to handle confidential information professionally
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Customer service orientation, with strong outcome focus
  • Strong project management and time management skills
  • Strong problem-solving with ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to achieve goals
  • Strong skills with MS Office suite of products, and experience with UKG HRIS system.
  • Emotionally mature and desiring to grow in cultural competence
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people and at all levels of the organization.
