Job Description

Summary: This position is a visible position within the firm and is responsible for all human resources functions including recruitment, hiring practices, compensation, record keeping, and company policies and practices.

Position Reporting Structure: This position has a direct reporting relationship to the Chief Operating Officer. 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

· PHR/SPHR certification desired

Supervisory Responsibilities: No direct supervision of others.

Key Corporate Relationships: This position works closely with Partners, Sr. Associates, Associates, Project Managers, and Administration staff. The position also has regular contact with all employees from all areas.

Education and/or Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or Business with minimum of two years experience in HR leadership role OR minimum of five years experience as HR Generalist OR combination thereof.

Competencies: Customer focus, flexibility, communication, initiative, interpersonal effectiveness, technical and professional knowledge, problem analysis and problem solving, and demonstration of branding philosophy.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Job Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities in no specific order: (Other duties may be assigned)

· Recruit, interview, administer assessment, and help select employees to fill vacant positions.

· Act as internal consultant to management when dealing with employee issues such as conflict, performance, discipline, etc.

· Write and maintain employee handbook and respond to inquires regarding policies and procedures.

· Administer compensation including development and maintenance of salary ranges.

· Prepare all paperwork related to promotions, demotions, bonuses, and increases.

· Administer performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance, and equity within the organization.

· Plan and conduct new employee orientation.

· Plan and conduct college intern interviewing and hiring.

· Schedule and coordinate college and high school job shadows.

· Write and maintain job descriptions

· Maintain employee personnel files (current and past) and compliance forms (such as I-9).

· Prepare monthly report for partner meeting including personnel statistics and activity report.

· Conduct exit interviews and update records.

· Administer federal affirmative action plan including all related logs.

· Maintain all state and community affirmative plans (Illinois and Madison specifically)

· Maintain human resource information system (HRIS).

· Investigate and report on any employee complaints.

· Prepare paperwork and attend all terminations.

Computer Skills

· Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

· Proficient in human resource information system software

· Continuing knowledge of state and federal employment laws

· Highest degree of confidentiality

· Good organizational skills

· Ability to interact with individuals from all levels

· Good problem solving skills

· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

· Occasional travel to Madison office

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and clients.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
