Steele Solutions Inc. is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Apprentice Near Milwaukee, WI

Summary

Under supervision of Human Resources team members, the HR Specialist Apprentice provides project support for a variety of Human Resources programs and processes. HR support includes support for staffing and on-boarding processes, learning and development, performance management, compensation, benefits and other HR related functions.

Steele Solutions has partnered with the Society of Human Resources (SHRM) Foundation and the State of Wisconsin Bureau of Apprenticeship on this exciting opportunity!

The HR Specialist Apprentice Program consist of an 18-month commitment and 144 hours of paid instruction encompassing all aspects of the human resources core competencies with the goal to prepare the apprentice for the SHRM CP Exam.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works independently on complex special projects in a variety of human resources program areas including but not limited to: Learning and development, performance management, social media, colleague engagement, Steele Solutions contests and programs to support wellness initiatives.
  • Assists with all routine HR functions in areas including but not limited to: Answering HR questions, benefit enrollment, entering and processing new hires, change and termination information, background checks, processing/reading performance reviews, HR form updates, and Handbook updates.
  • Assist Talent Acquisition with sourcing of candidates.
  • Creates and publishes company newsletter. Solicits articles from managers and colleagues. Edits all contributions to newsletter and writes articles as needed.
  • Assist with unemployment claims response.
  • Assist with Workers’ Compensation process.
  • Assist with HR ongoing employee engagement initiatives.
  • Assist and may develops HR training presentations (including benefits, workplace violence, interviewing, and documentation).
  • Assists with the management of employee relations to ensure compliance with policies and practices. May research and respond to questions and concerns. May research federal and state laws to ensure Steele Solutions policy compliance and writes, revises, and recommends Handbook policies as necessary.
  • Provides ad hoc reports to assist human resource management in decision making. Helps to identify trends and potential issues based on HR metrics.
  • May act as a resource for HR related topics.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required by HR or management leaders.

  • Excellent computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must have high level of discretion and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and prioritize

Education Requirements

  • Junior or Senior status enrolled in an accredited college or university who is pursuing a degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development or related field.

Experience Requirements

  • Have a minimum of one (1) year of HR or office setting work experience.
  • 18-month commitment and 144 hours of paid instruction encompassing all aspects of the human resources core competencies with the goal to prepare the apprentice for the SHRM CP Exam.
