About the Job

A Los Angeles company is seeking a talented, creative, Executive Chef experienced in offsite catering and genuine passion for food to lead a culinary team! We host beautiful events, weddings, and private parties in the greater Los Angeles area.

Job Description

The Executive Chef will be responsible for the leadership and activities of the entire kitchen, overall operations, purchasing, organizing tastings for clients, and research and development of the menu. You will be expected to maintain high standards by establishing food specifications and recipe development, including creating specifications, portion control, presentation, safety, and sanitation. You will promote constant harmony and positive, constructive communication with the staff in establishing a pleasant working environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Effectively train, manage, supervise, mentor, and energize a diverse team of culinary professionals.
  • R&D; Recipe and menu development, planning, and testing
  • Expedite and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Ensure successful operation of events.
  • Maintain positive and productive working relationships with the team.
  • Must be able to produce and present food at a high level, on time, for a large and small number of guests.
  • Effectively delegate tasks.
  • High volume production & large batch cooking

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent culinary skills
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation
  • Experience running multi-unit operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great attention to detail
  • Computer proficiency Microsoft Office, G-suite

Ideal Candidate

  • Must have offsite catering experience
  • A high level of commitment, passion, and creativity for food
  • A leader who will earn the respect of the entire staff and help each team member elevate themselves to grow within the organization.
  • Someone who can handle curveballs and work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
  • Strong sense of urgency

Requirements

  • Culinary School graduate (preferred)
  • Min. 4-5 years Executive Chef experience, preferably in catering & events
  • Experience managing a large team.
  • Solid track record of success in previous catering company
  • Manager s ServSafe certificate
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) preferred, but not required.

Pay & Benefits

  • Job Type: Salary, Full-Time
  • Salary: $120,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
