 Job Overview:
Oversee Human Resources programs, including recruiting/employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations, recognition programs, and training programs, to ensure policy compliance for hotel team members. Build and promote a positive team culture while ensuring our guests’ experience is unique and brings the brand to life. Coach and counsel General Managers and leadership team on all people-related issues.

Role and Responsibilities

Financial Returns: 

  • Verify the calculation of the monthly premium statements for all group insurance policies and maintain statistical data relative to premiums, claims, and costs. Resolve administrative problems with the carrier representatives.
  • Review and ensure eligible employees are offered Cobra upon termination.
  • Assist the Vice President in obtaining statistics and information in the renewal process of any health, life, and retirement plans that benefit the company.

People: 

  • Plan and execute community events.
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Assist with conducting benefits orientation and explain the benefits self-enrollment system.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits are entered appropriately in the payroll system for payroll deduction.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life, and other related benefit claims.
  • Assist in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Post jobs, review resumes, screen candidates, schedule interviews, and assist with offer extension and onboarding
  • Develop and implement talent acquisition strategies to achieve appropriate sourcing, evaluation and selection of qualified and diverse talent.
  • Research and investigate all workplace issues to discover facts, identify potential risks to the hotel or company, and facilitate resolution through your employee relations programs
  • Onboarding new hires, verifying all new hire paperwork and processes are completed.
  • Manage labor relations and represent the hotel in grievances, mediations, arbitrations, and contract negotiations.
  • Terminating employees in ADP.
  • Responsible for administrative duties for the Maya Support Center.

Guest Experience: 

  • Greet and welcome all guests as they enter the Maya Support Center.
  • Be attentive to visitor needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and people.

Responsible Business: 

  • Maintain a professional and high-quality service-oriented environment at all times.
  • Uniform and personal appearance are kept clean and professional and are in accordance with Maya Hotels Grooming Policy. A smile is considered part of the uniform.
  • Comply with Maya Hotel’s policies, procedures, and Code of Ethics.
  • Promote a safe working environment.
  • Practice safe working habits, including bending and lifting appropriately to avoid injury, reporting hazards, appropriate set of cleaning chemicals, and working to minimize tripping and falling hazards.
  • Prioritize and organize. 
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment. 

Experience: 

  • A minimum of three years of combined general Human Resources and supervisory experience. 
  • In-depth knowledge of state and federal employment and wage and hour laws. 
  • Proficiency in managing various employee benefit programs, including worker's compensation and FMLA.
  • Previous experience in managing safety initiatives and ensuring OSHA.
  • A minimum of two years of recruiting and sourcing experience.

Education and Skill: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Four-year college degree in a related field is preferred
  • Certification in Human Resources such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions, pivot tables, etc.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, not required
