What We Need From You

The Benefits and Compensation Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, accident plan, flexible spending plan, and retirement plans) and compensation programs, policies, and procedures to align with the company’s goals and competitive practices.

This is an in-office position, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Essential Functions

Benefits

  • Implements and administers the Company’s benefits programs.
  • First point of contact for employees; owns the customer service function by answering and responding to employees requests and questions.
  • Coordinates daily benefits processing. Manages enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, 401(k), and QMCSOs.
  • Manages maintenance of employee benefits, maintains group benefits database and updates employee payroll records.
  • Assists in gathering employee data to process monthly billings and the preparation of payment for all group plans.
  • Oversees the planning and implementation of annual open enrollment; conducts benefits orientation with new employees and assists with enrollment.
  • Distributes materials for benefits orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions. Provides training and support to all employees.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Coordinates and verifies benefit adjustments have been entered correctly in payroll registers.
  • Performs periodic financial analysis of benefit costs and identifies issues and makes recommendations for their resolution. Analyzes benefits claims experience for cost control and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinates with benefit plan providers, vendors, and consultants to ensure service delivery standards are met and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Monitors interface with benefits administration systems, vendors, and Payroll.
  • Develops communication and education materials to enhance employee understanding of the company’s benefit package.
  • Administers employee leaves of absence including FMLA, STD, LTD, and state leaves in conjunction with leave administrator and payroll.
  • Provides technical expertise to employees to ensure understanding by explaining leave policies, procedures and timelines and resolving problems or issues.
  • Partners with employees to complete required leave paperwork; reviews and approves completed leave paperwork while ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manages American with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) process, including engaging in the interactive process and reviewing all medical documentation and accommodation requests.
  • Manages multiple leave cases daily including tracking and maintaining electronic data and files.
  • Maintains OSHA recordkeeping in HRIS including creating the 300 logs & 300A summaries and is responsible for yearly OSHA online and store reporting and postings.
  • Produces bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly reports as required.
  • Coordinates with Payroll ensuring compensation transactions are complete and accurate.

Compensation

  • Manages the development, implementation, and administration of compensation programs.
  • Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
  • Partners with Operations and Finance to analyze and determine salary bands, ensuring alignment of the people and business strategies, objectives, and a competitive market position.
  • Manage projects including, but not limited to, special market studies and pay equity reviews.
  • Leads annual compensation planning processes (incentives, market review, salary increase cycles).
  • Completes day to day work including but not limited to salary offers and compensation agreements.
  • Develops and maintains job architecture, salary structures, job description database, and processes.
  • Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data.
  • Ensures all compensation-related activities are in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
  • Assists payroll processes in researching and resolving complex payroll issues.
  • Ensures operational efficiency and compliance by documenting and continuously improving procedures and workflows.
  • Assists in year-end payroll processes, including generating W-2s, reconciling payroll data, and preparing necessary reports.
  • Stays updated on best practices and technology advancements and implements new procedures and policies related to compensation.

Other Duties

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent work experience.
  • 2-3 years of employee benefits experience.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, and Medicare.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to employee compensation.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Google Drive, and Google Forms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field.
  • 3-5 years of employee benefits experience.
  • 3 years of compensation experience.
  • Basic payroll knowledge and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • UKG experience.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Compensation:

  • The salary for this position is $72,000 - $90,000 annually.
  • In accordance with Colorado state law, this position is non-exempt and all overtime will be paid at time and a half.
  • There is potential for an annual employee profit-sharing bonus based upon company performance.
