KPA is Hiring a Human Resources Consultant Near Denver, CO

Position Description:

The HR Consultant is a key member of the HR Management Operations team at KPA. In this role, you will support clients via the “Ask the HR Expert” virtual service and phone calls, answering questions and providing guidance on a variety of HR questions, HR regulations, including assisting clients in defining their workforce management practices.

The HR Consultant will also support clients on a variety of workforce management projects and must be able to find creative solutions and be agile in delivering quality service. You will be expected to proactively communicate with clients by phone call and by email and be able to have challenging discussions with clients around their expectations, internal business process change, HR compliance topics, current software capabilities and KPA’s HR product roadmap. The HR Consultant is expected to provide clients with subject matter expertise, HR compliant content, and best practice advisement.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site and online training on HR best practices and general HR compliance knowledge.
  • Assisting and advising clients with complex workforce management issues including but not limited to investigations, workers’ compensation claims management, Wage and Hour compliance, FMLA leave management, appropriate ADA accommodations, Investigation practices, etc.
  • Developing and presenting HR knowledge to benefit clients in the form of white papers, webinars, podcasts, documents, and articles.
  • Complete Employee Handbook projects, drafts and reviews, as well as articulate Policy compliance and practices.
  • Achieve HR Consultant team objectives, deliverables and goals.
"Ask the HR Expert"
  • The “Ask the HR Expert” virtual service is a key component of the KPA service model and spans multiple KPA products. The questions asked by clients range from basic wage and hour to complex benefit administration. The HR Consultant will use a variety of research tools, consult with fellow HR consultants, and KPA’s legal counsel to answer questions quickly and accurately within KPA published service level agreement. The HR Consultants are the first point of escalation for clients if they need additional HR best practices support.
First 90 days:
  • Develop proficiency in KPA HR software products SalesForce and KPA proprietary and vendor HR Resource Library and employment law databases.
  • Begin to answer “Ask the HR expert” phone calls and emails under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Prepare and present virtual or onsite training and observe KPA methodology in action.
  • Complete deliverables on time and in scope, coordinate, monitor, and report results for assigned projects.
  • Answer Ask the HR Expert questions per KPA’s established service level agreement.
First 6 months:
  • Deliver webinars as part of our ongoing HR educational programs.
  • Identify topics and prepare and present seminars on current relevant topic(s).
  • Have completed a minimum of 200 Ask the HR Expert interactions.
First year:
  • Support business development efforts through proposal development and demonstrations in the role as subject matter expert on HR specific topics
  • Provide ongoing HR Expert Services.
  • Manage client handbook creation projects as assigned.
  • Understand KPA’s complete suite of product offerings and possess the ability to identify key upselling opportunities as part of your client engagement responsibilities.
Qualifications:
  • Proven HR working experience in hands-on and strategic HR management with multi-client/units consulting experience.
  • Additional operations or business experience outside of HR.
  • Certification in Professional Human Resources (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) or ability to obtain within the first year of employment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of employment and labor laws, workforce management best practices and procedures with the ability to translate this knowledge into effective solutions for clients and accurate guidance for “Ask the HR Expert” service.
  • Establishing oneself as a trusted adviser on major HR compliance matters and best practice.
  • Thorough understanding of human resources principles and practices, including employment laws and regulations. This includes self-directed maintenance on knowledge of current laws, events, industry trends and economic factors that may impact KPA and its clients.
  • Practical knowledge of HR metrics to benchmark, measure, analyze and articulate the value and ROI of HR initiatives, practices, and policies.
  • Experience handling engagements in the areas of recruitment, leadership training and development, compensation benchmarking, HRIS selection, assessing talent and performance, conducting audits and internal compliance reviews, preparing written summaries and reports for programs and projects.
Preference For:
  • Working HR knowledge of CA regulations and PHR-CA certification or ability to obtain PHR-CA certification within first year of employment.
  • Experience as a Client Facing HR Business Partner/Adviser/Consultant with multiple client businesses across the U.S. in an HRO, ASO, PEO setting or similar human resources outsourcing scenario.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in providing best practice HR Compliance guidance to C-Suite and HR Executive clients as well as mid management and non-HR professionals.
  • Evidence of public presentations on critical HR topics, live and virtual, to clients and professional organizations.
  • Experience creating, editing, reviewing handbooks and policies and other HR related documents and forms for state and federal HR compliance and accuracy in a proficient manner.
Success Criteria:
  • Able to work with a high level of autonomy within KPA’s established standard operating procedures and service levels.
  • Ability to become a trusted advisor to business owners.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional internal teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to write, develop, and deliver successful presentations and facilitate trainings to individuals and groups at all levels of an organization.
  • Act as a liaison with senior management and/or human resources department staff in ensuring the effective high-quality delivery of the service.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations and challenging discussions with poise and ease.
  • Follow internal procedures to provide excellence in client service, protocols, and practices.
  • A commitment to KPA core values.
Compensation:
  • Annual base salary range between $65-75k
  • Bonus potential of 10% annually
