SUMMER SCHOLARS is Hiring a Remote Human Resources Manager

Scholars Unlimited is looking for a dynamic individual who has strong Human Resources skills, passion for our mission, and ability to work collaboratively with our team. This position is ideal for someone who is flexible and has high standards for employee relations, onboarding and offboarding employees, benefit management, and administrating and creating policies and procedures. THE ORGANIZATION

Scholars Unlimited is a non-profit organization that provides high-quality, comprehensive after school and summer learning programs to elementary school children in metro Denver. Our organizational vision is an unwavering commitment to empower students to achieve academic and personal success. Our mission is to foster academic, social, and emotional growth for children living in systematically underserved communities around metro Denver. Our vision, values and mission are built on the foundation of our belief in every child’s potential, the belief in cultivating life-long learners, and the belief in the power of every child, family, and community. We collaborate with school districts and generally provide our programs in the schools our students attend. Currently, our programs are offered in Denver, Aurora, Sheridan, and Westminster public schools.

THE POSITION FUNCTION

In partnership with the President, the Human Resources Manager leads all aspects of the Human Resources Department for Scholars Unlimited. As part of the leadership team, the HR Manager participates in setting policies and procedures, assisting with employee relations, leading health and wellness initiatives, and manages all aspects of onboarding and off boarding employees.

Human Resources touches every aspect of our organization, and we are seeking someone who can juggle varied responsibilities while keeping employees happy and healthy.


RESPONSIBILITIES


Employee Relations

  • Use a seamless approach to onboard and offboard all employees, utilizing our HRIS system. This includes tracking background checks and making sure all licensing paperwork is complete.
  • Work with staff to resolve conflicts through positive and professional mediation.
  • Always maintain workplace and employee privacy.
  • Investigate workplace complaints in a timely manner.
  • Handle all workman’s compensation claims as well as process paperwork for any disability claims.
  • Full life cycle recruiting for all salaried positions, including market research to make sure salaries are in alignment with industry standards.
  • Oversee annual performance reviews and goals.

Benefit Administration

  • Negotiate and work with Benefit Broker to establish attractive benefit plans for employees.
  • Coordinate with Finance team for benefit budget and propose recommendations.
  • Hold an annual open enrollment meeting, answering questions and presenting plan options to staff.
  • Enroll and terminate employees per carrier guidelines throughout open enrollment and during the year.
  • Facilitate employee wellness initiatives.

Policies and Procedures

  • Work with organizational leaders to develop policies and procedures.
  • Ensure policy awareness by working with all teams to promote understanding.
  • Manage the performance review process from start to finish, providing support to staff and managers.

Administrative Duties

  • Create digital folders to provide state licensing personnel with required forms and documents.
  • Acting as a liaison with accounting to make sure payroll changes are inputted and all staff are paid correctly.
  • Provide employment verifications and letters as needed.


Leadership Responsibilities

  • Member of the President’s Cabinet to help set organizational initiatives and provide updates on HR related issues.
  • Provide insight to the board as needed.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

Experience:

Five (5) years of experience in a Human resources management role.

Education:

An undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience required.

BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION

Scholars Unlimited offers a competitive financial package with a generous PTO policy, including paid holiday time off between December 25th and January 1st. Two mental health and wellness days are awarded per year as well. Employees can choose between three comprehensive health plans, along with dental and vision coverage. The organization offers an allowance per month to cover plan premiums. Short term and Long term disability are covered 100 percent by the organization as well as Life Insurance. This is a HYBRID position. Employees are expected to be in the office 2-3 days a week, subject to arrangements made with the President.
