Godfrey Hotel Detroit, Curio Collection by Hilton is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Detroit, MI

The Godfrey Hotel Detroit is the fifth Godfrey to be opened by Chicago based Oxford Hotels & Resorts, and first operated as a member of the Curio Collection by Hilton.

With existing locations in Boston, Chicago, Hollywood, and Tampa, The Godfrey Hotel Detroit is the next critical expansion in the rapidly growing brand and an exciting opportunity to build on and solidify the Godfrey reputation as unique, guest-centric lifestyle hotels with compelling food & beverage offerings.

The Godfrey Hotel Detroit, Curio Collection by Hilton is located in the heart of rapidly evolving Corktown along Michigan Ave. and has 227 comfortably contemporary guestrooms and suites; a popular ground-floor restaurant, Hamilton's; downtown Detroit’s largest ballroom; and a rooftop bar/lounge, I|O, with retractable roof and window walls that offer panoramic views of the Detroit skyline from the heart of its oldest and most storied neighborhood.

Position Summary

Our HRD directs and ensures the efficient administration and management of the Human Resources function. This includes recruiting, training, wage/benefit administration, compliance with statutory requirements, and the execution of employee relation activities in order to provide each department with the staff, guidance, and support necessary to achieve their customer service and business objectives. Ultimately, this leader is accountable for ensuring a proactive Human Resources environment.

The Director of Human Resources reports to the General Manager.

Requirements:

  • Ability to deal effectively with all team members, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to diffuse anger, collect accurate information and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing in order to prepare official correspondence as well as provide clear and meaningful instructions, guidance and counseling to all team members.
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices and procedures as well as considerable knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resources matters.
  • Basic mathematical skills in order to perform moderately complex calculations for salary and benefit administration and to forecast departmental expenses using a moderately complex HR software.
  • Four year college degree preferred
  • Five years combined general Human Resources and supervisory/management experience. Prior hotel experience preferred. Experience within a similarly sized operation is highly desirable, as is prior hotel opening experience.
  • SHRM-CP certified applicants preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
