Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is Hiring a Human Resources Assistant Near Detroit, MI

The Opportunity

The Human Resources Assistant (HR Assistant) will perform administrative tasks and services to support
effective and efficient operations of the organization’s talent & culture (human resource department).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate and up–to–date human resource files, records, and documentation.
  • Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies,
    benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior–level HR staff or
    management.
  • Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
    Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and
    filed appropriately.
  • Provides executive assistant support to the Vice President, Talent & Culture.
  • Performs administrative tasks to support the Talent & Culture department.
  • May assist with payroll functions including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing
    errors, and distributing checks.
  • Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, which may
    include health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
  • Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
  • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization–wide
    meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with
    tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, project management software (Asana), document management
    (Box), and other technological software
  • Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management (ADP) and similar computer HRIS
    applications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Prior related office experience required

Benefits & Salary

The targeted salary for those entering this role is $48,000 – $60,000.

The Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan offers a robust benefits package including 20 days of vacation accrued monthly, 5 personal days, 11 holidays, 9 sick days accrued monthly, paid parental leave, and employer paid short/long-term disability.

The Community Foundation also offers a pension retirement program after 1 year of service which contributes10% of salary.
