ABOUT A.C.T.

American Conservatory Theater is an essential gathering place that brings artists and communities together to inspire and provoke. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein, A.C.T.’s mission is to engage the spirit of the San Francisco Bay Area, activate stories that resonate, promote a diversity of voices and points of view, and empower theater makers and audiences to celebrate liveness. A.C.T. is a Tony Award–winning nonprofit theater serving almost 200,000 people in the San Francisco Bay Area annually through theater, training, and education and community programs.

Position and Program Purpose: The Professional Development Outreach and Sales Manager leads the strategy, promotion, marketing, and sales for the Professional Development program. The Professional Development program brings teaching artists into corporate/group settings to teach leadership, collaboration, creativity, and storytelling; along with other soft skills through theater based activities.

Responsibilities: Meet program booking and sales goals, and develop and implement the strategy to do so.

  • Collaborate with the marketing department to create and execute a marketing and outreach plan; including website update and maintance, promotional materials (digital and physical collateral), advertising campaigns, and inclusion in existing A.C.T. marketing materials for other A.C.T. programs.
  • Generate and pursue client and sales leads.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing departments to obtain leads for Professional Development sessions from current corporate donors/sponsors, audience members and training program participants.
  • Communicate clear expectations for clients on program sessions.
  • Communicate and follow up with new and current clients, as well as corporate donors and sponsors, to secure booking of Professional Development sessions.
  • Work with clients to assess custom needs and work with the Professional Development program administrative team to confirm capacity to create custom curriculum based on those needs with current resources.
  • Provide general session booking service and customer service for clients.
  • Coordinate session bookings with the Professional Development program administrative team.
  • Work with the finance department to coordinate invoices and payments.
  • Obtain feedback from clients regarding programming and faculty and provide feedback to Professional Development administrative team.
  • Obtain faculty feedback regarding clients and incorporate into recruitment strategies and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with development and marketing departments to support the connection of clients to become corporate donors/sponsors.
  • Support the promotion of conservatory classes, donations, and tickets for A.C.T.’s other programs to our Professional Development clients’ constituents.
  • Other duties as necessary to achieve goals and as assigned by the Director of the Conservatory.

Qualifications


Required/Minimum Qualifications or Basic Qualifications:

  • Customer services and sales experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and growing a sales program.
  • Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Alignment with A.C.T.’s Mission, Values and commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
  • Moderate experience working with Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel).
  • Moderate to advanced experience working and collaborating in an office administrative experience.
  • A passion for the power of training and skills building through theater skills.

  • Demonstrated skill in understanding of cultural differences.
  • Strong awareness of performing arts-based production, training, and artistry process.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with A.C.T. colleagues and stakeholders.
