We’re looking for a strong Teacher Professional Development Manager who will lead and own the creation of professional development materials and resources for educators using Kira Learning. For many of the teachers using our platform, this is their first time teaching Computer Science. We need someone who understands the content and pedagogy, and can create instructional materials, design and deliver professional learning sessions, and provide ongoing support as needed to educators. The ideal candidate has a background in teaching Computer Science, knows how to build educator-centric professional development curriculum, communicate with district and site leaders, and is interested in making a lasting impact with the way Computer Science is taught.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Develop high-quality and engaging professional development materials and resources for teachers and partner with Curriculum Developers to ensure all content is aligned with student course content.
  • Craft educator-centered trainings and professional development sessions, both virtual and in-person, that align with pedagogical best practices Collaborate with Curriculum Development and Product teams to ensure student content and teacher tools on the Kira platform align with teacher needs.
  • Interact regularly with teachers in various regions to understand student, teacher, and school needs.
  • Co-manage and contribute to Kira Teachers Facebook group, an online professional support community for Kira teachers.
  • Manage a team of part-time Kira Ambassadors who are generally full-time teachers of Kira courses. These Ambassadors participate in leading PD sessions, contribute to Kira teacher resources, serve as moderators for our Kira Teachers Facebook Group, and post content and answer questions in that forum. 
  • Hire to expand the Kira Teachers Ambassadors group as we add teacher communities in new regions.
  • Travel to lead in-person professional development sessions as is desirable.
  • Participate in developing conference proposals, and travel to conferences to deliver presentations.
Experience & Skills
  • Experience designing and facilitating meetings, and leading teams
  • A strong understanding of adult learning principles and how to best support the professional development of teachers 
  • Experience teaching Computer Science or AI / Machine Learning courses at the high school level and with teaching strategies needed for strong student outcomes 
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; you can patiently, professionally and effectively communicate with a diverse and multicultural group of peers across time zones and continents
  • Nimble and adaptable. Can roll with the punches and thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment
  • A positive, can-do attitude. You’re not deterred by minor setbacks and are able to swiftly overcome ambiguity
  • You believe feedback is a gift. You can thoughtfully share feedback to others as needed, and you can receive feedback and grow from it
  • Will consistently cultivate a culture of inclusion where all team members feel a sense of belonging and can bring their authentic selves to work
  • Empathy for students, teachers, and other team members
  • Strong proficiency in Google Workspace programs

$100,000 - $130,000 a year
Competitive salary ($100,00 to $130,000) and equity package in a well-funded, high growth company.
Compensation is based on a number of relevant factors such as location, professional experience and related skill sets.
