This is responsible technical and participatory work supervising staff responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Cosme Plant in Northwest Hillsborough County and associated Distribution Pump Stations on a permanent or rotating shift. Work requires considerable technical knowledge and independent judgment in operating equipment related to the treatment and production of potable water, and the ability to provide lead supervision and training of skilled operators, and semi-skilled and unskilled workers. Work includes the inspection, monitoring and reading recording charts, meters, gauges and computer displays to determine production rates, chemical feed rates, equipment status, chemical analysis and electrical status; and the adjustment to controls to ensure that the treatment and production is in accordance with standard operating procedures. Initiating work requests, performing preventative maintenance and some corrective maintenance, and capturing the record of work in our asset management system is required. An employee in this class performs laboratory analysis of water for quality control; supervises and assigns work; participates in maintaining plant equipment and overall cleanliness of the work area; and performs related work as assigned including duties normally assigned to Water Plant Operator I’s, II’s and III’s. Because of the critical responsibilities of this class, an employee in this class must be “on call” and report to work at the discretion of management.
Salary: $29.84 - $43.81 Hourly
