Duration: Full Time – Twelve-month position 

Reporting to: Director of Finance 

FLSA: exempt/salaried employee 

Schedule: Monday through Friday (after hours support for Freshman registration & financial aid events) 

Hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Job Purpose: 

The Senior Accountant will provide accurate and data-based information from SAA’s financial reports. This position will research, prepare and analyze financial information to assist SAA in making well informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements. 

The main responsibilities will include:  

Daily/Weekly: 

• Responsible for accurate and timely processing of accounting transactions 
• Reconcile student billing, accounts payable and cash receipts systems to General Ledger, as needed 
• Reconcile financial reporting to Raiser’s Edge Reporting 
• Backup for accounts payable, cash receipts and student billing processing 
• Oversee student parking tracking and reporting 
• Responsible for processing timely expense reimbursements to faculty and staff 

Monthly:

• Reconcile both Academy and Foundation operating bank and brokerage statements, and record necessary adjusting entries 
• Analyze all balance sheet accounts, others as needed 
• Prepare standard and correcting journal entries, as needed 
• Assist in the preparation of special reports 

Other Assignments: 

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements 
• Prepare annual report published in Veritas Magazine 
• Assists with the annual budget process and other related budgets 
• Assist with annual external audit process 
• Maintaining records for the financial aid and scholarship programs 
• Maintain electronic and physical filing system of documents and records 
• Assist team members and department managers with issues, as needed 
• Perform special projects, as needed

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor’s degree accounting or equivalent preferred
• At least 2 years’ prior finance experience 
• Blackbaud Financial Edge accounting system knowledge a plus 
• Financial experience within a non-profit a plus 
• Strong analytical and math skills 
• Program knowledge (Raiser Edge, Microsoft Suite) 
• Knowledge of and up to date on GAAP 
• Effective communication with both internal and external clients (written and verbal) 
• Can multitask and prioritize (working with large volumes of data) 
• Completed Safe HavenTraining
