Job Title: Staff Accountant
Location: Houston, Texas
Report to: Accounting Manager
Summary: The accountant position assists in the preparation and maintenance of financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or related field
- 2 years of accounting experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (heavy excel)
- Knowledgeable on general financial accounting
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare and provide daily cash report to management
- Communicate with Accountants Payable department about payments
- Reviewing new vendor documentation and setting up vendors
- Prepare monthly closing entries including those related to expense accruals, debt, credit card transactions, corporate allocations, stats, etc.
- Review accounts for accurate coding
- Assist in preparation of 1099s
- Reconciling AR and AP agings to TB
- Assist in account reconciliations
