What do we need?

The primary function of the HR Specialist role is to create a strong positive organizational culture and to help the organization maintain HR compliance. The HR Specialist will lead full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, other projects and will provide clerical to the HR department. This role will also further the organization’s racial equity work and will advance the organization’s mission of seeing families thrive.

Responsibilities

• Maintain all HR records in Paylocity and sharepoint
• Full-cycle recruiting, including screening, interviewing, and onboarding
• Help incoming staff feel welcome by updating door plates, initiating requests for IT credentials, creating photo and access badges, and preparing orientation folders and welcome gifts
• Lead onboarding and new hire orientation process
• Partner with HR Manager in employee recognition programs
• Support employee engagement by serving on committees, affinity groups, and other interdepartmental projects
• Run background checks for all staff, interns, and supportive housing guests, including through DHS.
• Lead benefits administration utilizing EASE
• Lead the creation of the internal Staff Digest newsletter
• Distribute organizational mail and code department invoices
• Order business cards and office supplies
• Demonstrate vital customer service and communication across all levels of the organization, exercising a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism
• Support the Human Resources department by assisting with reporting, analyzing data, and administrative duties
• Lead the scheduling of all training on behalf of the HR department
• Daily data entry of CACFP logs and distribution of month-end reporting
• Participate in and further the organization’s racial equity work

Pay and Benefits

• $28.75 - 30.00/hour

Requirements

• 2 or 4-year degree preferred, High School Diploma required
• 2-5 years of HR-related experience required. Recruiting, benefits administration or DEIB experience preferred
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months is preferred
• Must have a driver’s license and the ability to drive to all three locations within Minneapolis for office hours
• Experience in conflict management and employee relations preferred
• Strong Microsoft Suite and Paylocity experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and well-developed organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines required
• Strong time management abilities are required
• Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
• Excellent analytical skills with high-level written and verbal communication skills
• Diverse economic, social, and cultural experiences are highly preferred
