Native American Connections seeks an accomplished and multi-faceted Senior (Sr.) Director of Human Resources. We seek a dynamic Human Resources Executive with demonstrated accomplishments in formulating and executing the human resources strategy for a growth-driven non-profit organization and skills to spearhead mission-critical HR initiatives. The ideal candidate is a synergetic human resources expert defining HR functions and leading corporate culture, talent acquisition, leadership development, team engagement, DEI, and employee retention programs, collaborating with organization-wide leaders to attract, develop, and retain talent. HR leader is key to building a talent acquisition culture with new processes, systems, and standards for recruiting. The HR leader acts as a key adviser and trusted thought partner, to the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the President/CEO.
Further, NAC needs a talented organizational and interpersonal communicator and people-development-focused HR leader with a strategic mindset, an extraordinary level of empathy, and hands-on engagement in aligning strategic and operational goals to achieve superior results.
The successful candidate for this position must:
Possess at minimum a Bachelor’s degree with a field of study that includes business, public administration, or, social sciences. Master’s degree is preferred. Eight or more years of experience in human resources management is required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification is highly desired. Previous experience as a Sr. Director or C-Suite level experience in a healthcare and housing setting is preferred.
Experience and Competencies:
The Sr. Director of Human Resources serves a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for all NAC staff and in ensuring that human resource practices throughout the organization comply with NAC policies and applicable employment laws. Other specific duties include:
- administers HR programs and functions, identifying and solving HR issues impacting operations management and the business direction;
- oversees and performs a wide range of human resources functions, including policy development and administration, staffing, compensation and benefits, employee relations, and payroll;
- participates actively in strategic planning and addressing other issues of concern for the organization;
- designs and executes performance, learning & development, training, and process improvements and leads full-cycle HR operations to optimize the employee experience and yield greater performance;
- advocates for the employee journey, establishing a culture of excellence by gathering feedback to assess needs, anticipating outcomes, and introducing change management to produce consistent results;
- collaborates with the senior leadership team to shape the strategy, vision, mission, and direction of people operations including talent development, compensation, and organizational design;
- develops trusting relationships, leads and optimizes high-performing teams, and coaches individuals to maximize performance and potential; and,
- enhances employee engagement by implementing innovative HR strategies and initiatives.

Background:

- A responsive Human Resources Executive must have well-rounded experience in all functional areas of HR, including employee relations and performance management, and streamlined HR processes for increased efficiency and cost savings.

- Experience working with Native American organizations or tribal governments is preferred.
- Awareness and keen appreciation of Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs, or willingness to learn; an ability at times to meet and deal effectively with tribal governments and Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.
Salary Range: $105,000 - $125,000
