StageBio (www.stagebio.com) is a leading global provider of GLP-compliant clinical research and preclinical necropsy, histology, pathology, image analysis and specimen archiving services for the biopharmaceutical, medical device and contract research industries. In addition to a GLP/GCLP-compliant lab facility in Germany, we operate locations in VA, MA and MD, with continued investment in facility and technology infrastructure planned to meet the demand for high-quality histopathology services. A growing team of board-certified Veterinary Pathologists, as well as over 75 laboratory technicians, are employed in support of our unified international commitment to quality, scientific integrity, and client satisfaction. JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the CEO, the Director, Human Resources drives the people strategy and manages the day-to-day HR functions of StageBio. The Director supervises HR team members and acts as a partner to StageBio leadership in recruitment, development, and employee relations issues across the organization. The Director is a key member of the StageBio leadership team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (Not an Exhaustive List):
  • Lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department, handling certain responsibilities directly
  • Develop and maintain a people strategy that meets the company’s needs
  • HR Business partner to leaders throughout StageBio
  • Maintain HR vendor relationships, such as with PEO, compensation and benefits, and recruitment advisors
  • Manage to annual HR budget
  • Administer StageBio benefits and compensation programs
  • Oversee personnel transactions such as: new hires, promotions, internal transfers and terminations
  • Assist in the hiring of new employees by recruiting, reviewing resumes, performing screenings and reference checks
  • Develop, maintain and assist with annual performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within the organization
  • Ensure compliance with various laws and regulations
  • Conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations
  • Investigate accidents and prepare reports for insurance company
  • Maintain the employee handbook and policies
  • Write and deliver presentations to key leaders and directors as it pertains to HR policies and practices
  • Advise management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues
  • Prepare reports and calculate people metrics, noting trends and recommending processes and procedures to improve employee engagement
  • Coordinate management training according to compliance requirements and StageBio needs
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • At least three years of experience in similar role
  • Familiarity with employment laws and HR best practices
  • SHRM-CP or SPHR certification a plus
  • Experience in the life-sciences/biotech industry highly preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with managing and utilizing human resource information systems (HRIS)
